It’s a little late posting, but last week some members of the public may have noticed our crews out once again raising funds in support of the Janeway Telethon.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the motoring public and the dedication of our volunteers, Bay Roberts Fire Rescue was able to raise an amazing $7,240. For the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.

We cannot thank our members enough for volunteering their time and giving back to such an important cause. Their commitment to supporting our community extends far beyond emergency response, and we are extremely proud of their efforts.

To everyone who stopped to make a donation, honked, waved, or offered words of encouragement—thank you. Your generosity will help make a difference in the lives of children and families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Together, we continue to show what community is all about. ❤️🚒💙

Fire School 2026 kicks off today in Marystown, with firefighters from across Newfoundland and Labrador attending courses throughout the week.

Bay Roberts Fire Rescue would like to wish Capt. Dean Franey the very best as he attends his 2-day Basic Fire Inspection Course, and Chief Michael Murphy good luck as he takes part in the NFPA 1001 Level 2 Firefighter Course.

Best of luck to all participants, instructors, and support staff travelling from near and far. Here’s to a safe, successful, and rewarding week of training!

Another great night of training for the members of Bay Roberts Fire Rescue last night.

Crews completed two dry run scenarios involving a hose advancement into a 3-storey home with a fire located on the second floor and a known conscious victim trapped on the second floor. These types of scenarios help prepare our firefighters for the real-life situations they may face on the fireground.

Training started with members working on proper forcible entry techniques using our forcible entry prop to ensure firefighters can quickly and safely gain access when seconds matter most.

Crews also focused on proper communication with Incident Command to coordinate ladder placement and establish safe egress points for both firefighters and victims from second floor windows. Members then practiced correctly raising ladders and safely removing a victim down the ladder while minimizing the risk of injury to both the victim and firefighters.

Training like this is critical to building teamwork, communication, and confidence on the fireground. We look forward to putting crews through a full live scenario in the near future to continue testing our firefighters’ knowledge, skills, and ability to work together while ensuring we are always prepared to serve our community.

Great work by all members who came out and continue to dedicate their time to improving their skills and serving our community.

Today, members of Bay Roberts Fire Rescue were proud to volunteer their time for a great cause by supporting McHappy Day at McDonald’s Bay Roberts! Our members spent time helping sell McHappy Day socks and collecting donations in support of families in need through Ronald McDonald House Charities.

We would like to thank the staff and management at McDonald’s Bay Roberts for inviting us to be a part of such an amazing community event and for everything they do to give back.

We encourage everyone in the community to stop by today, grab a meal, pick up a pair of McHappy Day socks, and help support this incredible cause. Every donation makes a difference!

Thank you to all who continue to support local community initiatives and charities that help families when they need it most.
