💧 Level 1 Water Restrictions in Effect for Bragg Creek Area

Residents in Bragg Creek Hamlet, Wintergreen, and Elkana Estates are asked to reduce water use and follow an outdoor watering schedule until further notice.
Rocky View County has identified significant water loss in the Bragg Creek water system and is working to isolate the cause.
The restrictions will help reduce demand and maintain a reliable potable water supply while this work continues.

💧 Outdoor watering schedule:
• Even-numbered properties: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
• Odd-numbered properties: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

Big changes are coming to recycling across Alberta.

Starting October 1, 2026, Alberta’s enhanced recycling system will accept more packaging and paper products and make recycling more consistent across the province.

These changes are part of Alberta’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program, administered by Circular Materials.

For Rocky View County residents, this means:
♻️ More materials will be accepted for recycling.
♻️ Transfer-site recycling will become single-stream - no more sorting common packaging and paper recyclables into separate bins.
♻️ Langdon curbside recycling collection will continue with the current service provider, BluPlanet.
♻️ Rocky View County will continue to assist Langdon residents with recycling cart repairs.

Got questions? Read our pinned comment on this post for FAQ.

More local details are coming soon. In the meantime, visit the Circular Materials website for helpful info and answers: https://www.circularmaterials.ca/resident-provinces/alberta/

Until October 1, please continue following the current recycling guidelines.

Back-to-school means back to school bus safety.

As students return to class, school buses will be stopping on rural roads throughout Rocky View County.

Drivers are reminded to watch for school buses and know what the lights mean:

🟡 Flashing amber lights: The bus is preparing to stop. Slow down and get ready to stop.
🔴 Flashing red lights and stop arm extended: Stop at least 20 metres away. On undivided roads, traffic in both directions must stop until the lights stop flashing and the stop arm is pulled back in.

This is especially important in areas with heavy truck traffic, construction activity, or gravel pit access points.

Passing a stopped school bus is dangerous, illegal, and puts children at risk.

Help keep students safe: slow down, pay attention, and never pass a school bus with red lights flashing.
