Calgary Meals On Wheels

Calgary Meals On Wheels When you've got a lot on your plate, let us do the cooking. What we believe:
Everyone deserves to be well-fed. But we do not have to do battle alone.

Regardless of age, ability, or life-circumstances, we all have something to offer the world. It may be as simple as a smile, or it may be a testament to the courage everyday living requires— whatever shape our gifts take, they exist within all of us to share. At Calgary Meals on Wheels, we give the comfort of healthy, nutritious meals to anyone who needs it, so they can continue giving themselves

to the world. What we aim to offer our clients is far more than full stomachs, we want to offer them the chance to be the heroes of their own stories. What we do:
When you’ve got a lot on your plate, let us do the cooking. We all travel through life under different circumstances. For some of us, the road is smooth and then suddenly becomes rocky, for some of us trying times are stamped on the horizon. The truth is no matter what path we travel we will all experience periods of struggle. Whether it’s an injury, illness, disability, the loss of a loved one, divorce or simply the natural slowing that comes with age, at some point all lives will be touched by hardship. In those moments, Calgary Meals on Wheels exists to provide the comfort of healthy nutritious meals. We will all face challenging times, but we don’t have to do it on an empty stomach.

Thank you, Calgary & Birdies for Kids!

Because of your generosity, even more students will receive nutritious meals this school year. Your support helps ensure no one in our city has to face the day hungry.

Learning together helps us grow together. 🧡

Over the past month, our staff have been taking part in Indigenous Learning Circles, facilitated by our Indigenous Community Liaison Cyndy Bermingham.

These circles have created space to listen, learn, ask questions, and deepen our understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and experiences.

This learning is part of how we continue to grow as a team and strengthen the way we show up for the people and communities we serve.

We’re grateful to Cyndy for guiding these conversations, and to our staff for coming together with openness and a willingness to learn.

“We could not manage without your service.”

For this couple, daily meal deliveries make it possible to remain comfortable at home.

Reliable meals, friendly volunteers, and a quick chat at the door bring nourishment and connection to their day - especially when leaving home isn’t easy.

It’s a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful moments happen in those small daily visits. ❤️

Community doesn’t take a break.

Summer can be a quieter time for some seniors - which makes our volunteers even more important.

Last month, volunteers helped deliver meals, flowers, make volunteer lunches, and thoughtful surprises that brought connection and joy into clients’ homes.

A few hours can turn into a highlight for someone else’s day. Join our volunteer community and help keep Calgary connected.

On Friday, City Councillor Raj Dhaliwal (Ward 5), City Councillor Ward 9 Harrison (Ward 9 - home to Calgary Meals on Wheels), and Ward 14 Chief of Staff Laura Pentelbury joined us in the kitchen to make sandwiches for the volunteers supporting Birdies for Kids.

Thank you for rolling up your sleeves and pitching in alongside our team! 🥪💛

Visits like this are also a chance for local leaders to see nonprofit work up close - and better understand how community organizations support the people they represent every day.

We’re grateful for the time, the helping hands, and the chance to share a little of what happens inside our kitchen.

12 volunteers. 6 routes. 54 meals. One caring team. 💙

A big thank you to CIBC for joining us for a Day of Caring!

Their team hit the road to deliver 54 meals to neighbours across Calgary - bringing along something just as important: a friendly face and a moment of connection.

Because every knock at the door can mean more than a meal. It can remind someone that their community cares.

To all 12 CIBC volunteers - thank you for spending your day with us and showing up for your Calgary neighbours. 💙

🏌️ The golfers are hitting the green tomorrow and the giving is well underway!

Wishing everyone taking part in the Birdies for Kids charity golf tournament a fantastic day on the course.

Every swing is helping support charities that make a difference in our community - including Calgary Meals on Wheels. With community support, we can continue helping Calgarians access affordable, nutritious meals when they need them.

Good luck to all the golfers! Here’s to great shots, a great tournament, and an even greater impact for local charities. 💚

34 volunteers. 17 routes. 189 meals. And a whole lot of care. 💙

For two Days of Caring, the amazing team at Surge Energy joined us to deliver meals to neighbours across Calgary.

They packed into vehicles, headed out on 17 routes, and helped make sure 189 meals reached the people waiting for them.

But a delivery is about more than what’s in the bag. It’s also a knock at the door, a friendly hello, and a moment of connection.

To all 34 Surge Energy volunteers - thank you for showing up for our neighbours and our city.

This is community in action. 💙

Yesterday, Calgary Meals on Wheels was pleased to provide the backdrop for an announcement about investing in Alberta’s nonprofit sector.

Minister Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women, joined community organizations at our facility to announce provincial funding through the Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) and Community Initiatives Program (CIP).

For us, the significance of programs like CFEP is very tangible. CFEP funding helped Calgary Meals on Wheels expand our freezer and cooler capacity. It may sound like infrastructure, but its impact extends much further. Increased capacity allows us to operate more efficiently, respond to growing community need, and bring new school and community partners on board more quickly.

In a facility preparing thousands of meals every day, infrastructure is a capacity multiplier!

And that was what made yesterday’s announcement meaningful to host. Across Alberta, nonprofit organizations rely on strong facilities, equipment and infrastructure to do the work their communities depend on.

We were pleased to welcome Minister Fir, representatives from the YourAlberta (Government of Alberta), and fellow community organizations to Calgary Meals on Wheels today - and to provide a small glimpse into what investments in nonprofit infrastructure can make possible.

Feeding our City. Strengthening our Community. 💚
