Every day brings opportunities to make choices, express ourselves, and take part in the moments that matter. 💙

Whether it’s choosing what comes next, sharing an idea, or simply doing something you enjoy, having a voice in your own life matters.

Because independence isn’t about doing everything alone. It’s about having the freedom and support to make life your own. 🎳

There is no single path toward greater independence.

Goals are personal, circumstances are different, and meaningful progress can look different for every individual.

Through Outreach Support, individuals are supported at home and in their community as they build life skills, work toward goals, and make choices about what matters to them.

The focus isn't on following someone else's timeline. It's about having the right support to move forward in a way that feels comfortable, meaningful, and your own. 🌱💙

Sometimes connection starts with something as simple as a conversation.

A hello, a shared laugh, or taking a few minutes to catch up can create opportunities for relationships to grow and new experiences to begin.

These small moments of connection are part of what makes a community feel welcoming, familiar, and somewhere you belong. 💙☀️

Because community isn’t only about where we live. It’s about the connections we make along the way.

For 70 years, NEXUS has believed in the possibilities that open up when individuals have choice, encouragement, and support.

Possibility can mean trying something new, discovering an interest, working toward a personal goal, building greater independence, or simply choosing what comes next.

There is no single definition of progress and no one path forward. What matters is creating the space for each individual to explore what is meaningful to them.

As we celebrate 70 years, we continue to look forward to all the possibilities still ahead. 🌱✨

Sometimes the best moments are the simplest ones. 🍦⛰️

Getting outside, exploring somewhere new, sharing a favourite treat, or simply enjoying a change of scenery can turn an ordinary day into something memorable.

It’s these everyday experiences that create opportunities for joy, connection, and being part of the community in ways that feel meaningful. 💛

*Water Main Break Update* August 1, 2026 17:30

The water restrictions that were implemented in response to the Town of Creston water main break that occurred on August 1 have been lifted. Town of Creston Stage 1 Water Conservation Measures remain in effect (watering of lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs only between the hours of 7 pm - 10 am). Watering using drip irrigation, a watering can and/or hand held hose which eliminates over-spray, is permitted at any time.

To ensure continued system sanitization, chlorine levels in the Town of Creston water system will remain elevated for the next 48 to 72 hours. There is no impact to water quality at this time however, residents may notice a slight chlorine taste or odour.

We thank everyone for their continued cooperation and patience.

♦️The Evacuation Alerts issued in Electoral Area D on August 1 in response to the Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351) are unchanged overnight. ♦️

👉 Weather reports indicate higher temperatures and winds as compared to yesterday’s weather, which is increasing the risk of fire spread. Residents are strongly advised to keep their emergency preparations in place. The situation can change rapidly.

✅ Information is available in the Shuswap Emergency Program Community Evacuation Guide: https://www.csrd.bc.ca/581/Community-Evacuation-Guide

🔷 We want to extend our appreciation to CSRD fire crews from Tappen Sunnybrae, Shuswap, White Lake and Eagle Bay, along with BC Wildfire crews for extinguishing a structure fire in Tappen and keeping it from igniting the neighbouring forest. This was a serious concern and we deeply appreciate their work in keeping the community safe. 🔷

👉 The Shuswap Emergency Program will be meeting with BC Wildfire later this morning to get updated information. We will continue to update our website and social media today.
The best source for wildfire-related updates is the BC Wildfire Service Dashboard: https://wildfiresituation.nrs.gov.bc.ca/map

🚗 Road closures continue on Highway 97 at Salmon River Road and Heywood Armstrong Road. If you are driving from Kamloops to Vernon, please use Highway 1. Road closures may also take place with limited notice. Please check Drive BC for updates. https://www.drivebc.ca/
