Police responding to threats

Halifax Regional Police have a man in custody and an increased police presence in two areas of the city due to threats he made.

The Purdy’s Wharf parkade in downtown Halifax has been evacuated due to a suspicious vehicle that is being searched in response to the threats.

The man was arrested on Thomas Raddall Drive near the Canada Games Centre. Police will have an increased presence in this area as well.

Police ask the public to avoid both areas. More information will be released once it is available.

📍The Consulate General team had a productive series of meetings in Western Newfoundland exploring trade, tourism, and transit infrastructure.

🚢The visit included discussions with the Port of Corner Brook to highlight cruise and cargo traffic growth, meeting with MP Carol Anstey,
and a visit to the Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority with CEO Tammy Priddle to discuss regional connectivity.

🇺🇸🇨🇦 These conversations highlight the vital, ongoing economic cooperation between the United States and Atlantic Canada.

Celebrating our shared history in Stephenville!

The Consul General was honored to join Mayor Bob Byrnes and the Town Council to explore the fascinating history of the former Ernest Harmon Air Force Base, which was once the largest U.S. military base outside the continental United States.

Our history with Newfoundland and Labrador is deeply intertwined. To mark the U.S. 250th anniversary, we gifted a piece of our Founders Exhibit to the Stephenville Regional Museum. To cap off a great visit, the town raised a new American flag to celebrate our enduring friendship.
