The PHAI is more than a cleanup project—it’s a story shaped by history, community and shared commitment to protecting people and the environment. From beginning in the 1930s through to today, this is one of Canada’s largest environmental remediation efforts, focused on safely managing historic low‑level radioactive waste and restoring the community for future generations.

CNL is adjusting how PHAI private property remediation work is delivered following a review focused on improving efficiency and reducing impacts on residents, businesses, and the broader community—especially in the downtown core. The PHAI cleanup continues and property owners affected are informed of new timelines as they become known.
