𝐀𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.
Thank you to everyone who joined us as we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Greater Saint John Community Foundation last Wednesday evening.

Together, we reflected on five decades of generosity, community leadership, and the incredible people who have shaped our Foundation's story. We celebrated the donors and fundholders whose vision has created lasting impact, the volunteers and Board members whose dedication has guided our work, and the community organizations that continue to strengthen Greater Saint John every day.

The evening was filled with memorable moments…from the inspiring performance by the Kehkimin Drum Group, to the unveiling of our collaborative community mural created by students from St. John the Baptist / King Edward School, a heartfelt tribute to leaders past and present (Jane Barry and Kelly Evans), and a beautiful closing performance of Safe Home by our own Tracy Friars and friends.

As we looked back on more than $26 million invested in our community over the past 50 years, we were reminded that our story has never been about numbers alone. It's about people, generosity, believing in one another, and investing in a stronger future.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, spoke, partnered with us, or helped make this celebration possible, thank you. This evening was a celebration of everything our community can accomplish when people come together with a shared purpose.

🎉 Today marks the official 50th anniversary of the Community Foundation of Greater Saint John.

For five decades, we've connected generosity with community impact, helping donors support the causes they care about and investing in a stronger future for our region.

We're grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey... donors, volunteers, charities, and community partners. Thank you for helping build a legacy that will continue to make a difference forever.

🎓 With support from the Allan Percival Smith Memorial Bursary Fund, Rothesay High School graduate Kenechukwu Uche is heading to the University of Alberta to study engineering.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻.

For 50 years, the Community Foundation has helped local students pursue their educational dreams. This year, one of those success stories has a special connection to our own team.

On the day she graduated from Simonds High School, Charlize Mullin was named the recipient of the Joshua Porter Gunn Bursary. Selected for the award by her school’s selection committee, Charlize will attend Acadia University this fall to study Kinesiology, pursuing her passion for health, wellness, and helping others.

For the Foundation, Charlize's achievement is made even more meaningful because she is the daughter of our Financial Director, Sarah Frauley. While Sarah works behind the scenes helping steward charitable funds that support students across our region, this year she has the unique joy and surprise of watching her own daughter benefit from a community that believes in investing in young people.

As we celebrate 50 years of impact, Charlize's story is a reminder that philanthropy comes full circle. The support of donors today helps open doors for the next generation.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 #𝟯𝟮 - 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆

What if grantmaking wasn't a competition?

Through 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆, we flipped the script on traditional funding. Instead of competing for grants, seven local organizations came together to collaborate, share ideas, and collectively decide how funding could create more opportunities for children to play, explore, and connect.

The result? More than $200,000 invested in creative community projects, and a stronger network of organizations working together for local kids and families.
