On May 31, 2026, shortly after midnight, CPPS members observed a vehicle on Highway 16 near Boychuk Drive traveling at recorded speeds of 204km/hr in a posted 90km/hr zone. After 7km of closing the distance, a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was issued a $1515 speeding ticket for exceeding the speed limit by at least double. The vehicle was then impounded for 30 days, and the novice driver's licence was suspended for 7 days. All occupants of the vehicle were provided education in relation to speeding offenses and the realistic consequences of an accident at excessive speeds.
