Hey motorcyclists!

Spring has sprung in Niagara and for riders, that means getting back on the open roads. But with that excitement comes increased risk.

Last year on Niagara’s Regional roads, there were 51 motorcycle collisions. Seven were fatal. These aren’t just numbers — they’re family members, friends and co-workers.

It doesn’t have to be this way. We can work together to change this trend and save lives.

Riders, protect yourself:

• Give yourself space
• Follow the rules of the road
• Obey posted speed limits
• Ride defensively, not aggressively
• Watch for hazards such as seasonal debris and gravel

Remember, you are less protected than other drivers.

This isn't about riding scared. It's about being smart and safe. Every smart choice on the road helps protect a life, including your own.

Niagara Region is proud to partner with Niagara College on this meaningful project supporting innovation, collaboration and person-centred care in long-term care.

This partnership brings together students, staff, residents and care teams. It creates new learning opportunities and highlights the positive impact animal-assisted experiences can have on resident well-being.

We’re proud to support this collaboration and the moments of joy it brings to our communities!

When a major water main leak struck the Niagara Falls Water Treatment Plant reservoir in December 2025, our Water and Wastewater team didn't just fix it — they pioneered a smarter way to do it.

Using high-strength materials, staff built a pipe within the existing pipe, without any major digging or unnecessary service disruption to residents and traffic. The repair kept clean drinking water flowing throughout.

That ingenuity just earned Niagara Region the Ontario Public Works Association's award for Disaster or Emergency Construction / Repair, and we couldn't be prouder! This is the kind of dedication that keeps 160 million litres of clean drinking water flowing to Niagara communities every single day.

Congratulations to the incredible team behind this project. 👏
