It's BBQ time Grade 9 Vikings and families!

We can't wait to welcome you to Hammarskjold High School!

Join us on Wednesday, August 26 from 5 to 7 PM for a fun-filled BBQ.

*Meet your teachers and staff
*Enjoy games and activities
*Explore the school with self-guided tours (Grade 9 timetables will be mailed home before the event)

Be sure to attend the Principal’s Welcome at 5:15 in the Cafeteria followed by the BBQ in the Courtyard.

For those of you who cannot attend, the school will be open for self-guided tours the week of August 24 from 8:30-4.

Congratulations to Hammarskjold High School graduate Sofia Johnston on being named a 2026 Schulich Leader and receiving the prestigious Schulich Leaders Scholarship to pursue Mechatronics Engineering at Queen’s University.

Sofia is one of only 100 students across Canada selected for this competitive STEM scholarship, which recognizes exceptional academic achievement, entrepreneurial thinking, leadership, creativity, and passion for innovation.

We are incredibly proud of Sofia’s remarkable accomplishment and know she will continue to inspire others as she embarks on this exciting new chapter!

We are pleased to share some exciting leadership updates within our school community.

Mrs. Black, our dedicated Vice Principal, has been appointed to a Principal position beginning next school year. We are incredibly proud of Mrs. Black and grateful for the leadership, care, and commitment she has shown to our students, staff, and families. While we will miss her at Hammarskjold, we know she will continue to make a positive impact in her new role.

At the same time, we would like to share that Mrs. Johnston will be transitioning to a Vice Principal role at another school this September. We sincerely thank Mrs. Johnston for her contributions, leadership, and support of our school community. She has been a valued member of our team, and we wish her all the best in this next chapter.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Black and thanking both Mrs. Black and Mrs. Johnston for their service to our school. We wish them continued success and fulfillment in their new roles.

Students and families, please review the Semester 2 exam schedule and important exam information on the posted graphic.

🗓️ Exams run June 19–24 at 9:30 AM.

🌟 AM Co-op students will have their exam day Monday, June 22 and PM co-op students Wednesday, June 24.

📍 All exams and final assessment tasks will take place in students' regular classrooms.

✅ Students may leave school after their exam.

🚌 Buses will run at their usual morning and afternoon times.

🍴 Please note: Food will not be sold in the cafeteria during the exam period.

Be sure to attend your scheduled exam day and contact the office in advance if special arrangements are required.

We are so incredibly proud of the Hammarskjold athletes who were honoured last week at the annual Hammarskjold High School Athletic Award ceremony. From athletes of the year, MVPs, and most improved, we celebrated the best! Of course, we are absolutely indebted to the coaches and families who support these kids in being the best versions of themselves. Thank you to Mr. Wojda and his team for all the behind the scenes work in making this happen.
