Yesterday was Toronto Fire Servicesā€™ busiest operational day in 22 years.

Over a 24-hour period, our crews responded to 1,435 incidents across the city, with the majority of calls coming in between 5ā€“10 p.m.
That included:
šŸ”„ 403 fire suppression incidents
āš ļø 334 hazard incidents
šŸ›Ÿ 60 rescue incidents

Behind every response were the dedicated call-takers and dispatchers in our Communications Centre, managing an incredible volume of calls and coordinating resources across the City.

To our firefighters, dispatchers, call takers ā€” thank you for your professionalism, dedication and teamwork when Toronto needed you most.

And to our partners at Toronto Police Service, Toronto Paramedic Services, Toronto Transit Commission, Toronto Hydro and Toronto Emergency Management and all those who worked alongside us ā€” thank you for your continued collaboration.

Moving into a new place for school is exciting. Remember to plan your way out.

Students have so many things to think about when moving into a new place but fire safety matters too. Before a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds, plan two ways out of every room and plan a meeting spot outside which saves critical time in an emergency.

Fire Safety Plan: Review fire safety information provided by your landlord.

Bedrooms: Make sure windows and doors open easily
Hallways/Stairs: Keep exits clear of boxes, bags, shoes and clutter.
Roommates: Agree on a meeting spot outside and make sure everyone knows the plan.
Practice: Walk the escape routes so you donā€™t have to figure it out under pressure.

Toronto Fire Services, Toronto Police Service and Seneca Polytechnic came together this summer to give 40 students a unique opportunity to experience careers in public safety.

From hands-on training and practical exercises to working alongside firefighters and police officers, students got an inside look at what it takes to serve and protect our community.

Eight weeks of learning, teamwork, challenges and new experiences came to an end with graduation, and plenty of smiles, photos and celebrations. šŸŽ“šŸ‘

Congratulations to all students on an incredible achievement!

Toronto Fire Services is proud to support The Childrenā€™s Breakfast Clubs at their 2026 Backpack Giveaway.

Today, volunteers and community partners are coming together at the CNE Grounds to help prepare 4,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and hygiene essentials for children across Southern Ontario.

The initiative is doubling last yearā€™s impact, when more than 2,000 backpacks were distributed to children and families in need.

Weā€™re proud to be part of an effort that brings people together to support children in our community and help them start the school year with confidence, dignity and the tools they need to succeed.

Camping and cottage nights are for relaxing - not reacting With peak season in full swing, campfires and BBQs are everywhere. But one unattended flame can spread fast in dry conditions.

Donā€™t leave it till itā€™s out:
āœ” Pour water on it
āœ” Stir it up to ensure no hidden embers
āœ” Make sure itā€™s completely cool
