Air quality can change quickly, especially during a wildfire.

Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) provides real-time information to help residents understand local air quality conditions and make informed decisions to protect their health during periods of wildfire smoke and other air pollution events.

Supported by a network of 38 air quality monitoring stations across the province, Ontario’s air monitoring system tracks changing conditions and provides timely information to help keep communities informed.

We have modernized environmental assessments for municipalities – helping them deliver critical infrastructure projects faster to support housing in growing communities.

The new Municipal Project Assessment Process will streamline the environmental assessment process for municipal infrastructure and reduce duplication, while maintaining strong environmental safeguards. A new archaeological assessment process, including engagement with Indigenous communities, has also been created to identify and assess impacts to archaeological resources for certain projects.
