At the October 21 Organizational Meeting, County Council re-elected Jason Schneider as Reeve and Laurie Lyckman as Deputy Reeve for the coming year.

The Reeve provides leadership in Council affairs, presides over Council meetings, and serves as the municipality’s official spokesperson. The Deputy Reeve supports the Reeve and steps into the role when required.

It’s a windy one out there today! Wind can carry sparks and embers a long way, turning a small fire into a big problem in a hurry.

Take a few minutes today to check around your property:

🔥 Burn pits & fire pits: Make sure all previous fires are completely extinguished. If you’re planning to burn today, check current fire restrictions and conditions first. When it’s this windy, postponing outdoor burning is the safest choice.

🚬 Cigarette butts: Make sure they’re fully extinguished and never toss them into dry grass or out a vehicle window.

🌾 Fields & ditches: Be mindful of dry grass and vegetation around your property. Keep vehicles and equipment away from dry grass where hot exhaust or sparks could start a fire.

If you spot a fire that’s spreading or appears out of control, call 911.
