We’re looking to connect with passionate adult educators 👇
The Waterloo Region District School Board is hiring a Supply Instructor for the Essential Skills Upgrading (ESU) Program, supporting adult learners across Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge.

This role is ideal for someone who is:
• Committed to learner-centered, goal-directed education
• Experienced (or interested) in adult literacy, math, and life skills development
• Passionate about supporting individuals in achieving goals related to employment, independence, or further education

What stands out most is the impact — helping adults build confidence, skills, and clear pathways toward employment and further education.

One thing that really stood out to me in recent sector research completed by CLO (Community Literacy of Ontario) is how often attendance challenges are misread as disengagement, when they’re actually a response to anxiety, depression, or life instability.

In adult learning spaces, fluctuating participation isn’t a lack of motivation — it’s often someone doing their best to stay connected while managing real mental health stressors.

As we talk about outcomes and accountability, this feels like an important reminder: sometimes showing up looks different — and that still counts.
