In observance of the National Anti-Trafficking in Persons (ATIP) Awareness Month, MWO and OWWA Prague, in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in the Czech Republic, successfully conducted an online webinar on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) on 25 July 2026.

The webinar commenced with the Opening Remarks of Labor Attaché Llewelyn D. Perez, who emphasized that protecting migrant workers begins with education and awareness. She underscored that empowering every Filipino with the right knowledge enables them to make informed decisions, recognize warning signs, adopt preventive measures, safeguard their rights, and contribute to the shared responsibility of combating trafficking and exploitation. This was followed by a message from His Excellency Eduardo Martin R. Meñez, Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic, who underscored that every Filipino deserves to live and work in an environment where their dignity, rights, and well-being are respected and protected.

The webinar featured Ms. Jo Enrica "Jean" Enriquez, Executive Director of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women–Asia Pacific (CATW-AP), who shared valuable insights on Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, emphasizing the importance of understanding vulnerabilities, and fostering a culture of respect, accountability, and protection.

The webinar concluded with an engaging Open Forum, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions, exchange insights, and deepen their understanding of the topic.

Together, let us continue to uphold the dignity of every person, foster communities built on respect and mutual care, and stand united against all forms of exploitation, abuse, and violence.

The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Prague, led by Labor Attaché Llewelyn D. Perez, together with Welfare Officer Emer Janette Bamba of OWWA Prague, proudly joined Pinoy Grill 2026 in Warsaw, Poland, an annual gathering of the Filipino community that celebrates faith, fellowship, Filipino culture, and the enduring spirit of bayanihan through food, music, and shared stories.

Held on 19 July 2026, this year’s celebration brought together around 400 members of the Filipino community from across Poland. More than a festive occasion, it served as a meaningful opportunity for OFWs, their families, and community leaders to reconnect, strengthen friendships, and celebrate the values that continue to unite Filipinos wherever they may be.

As part of the celebration, MWO and OWWA Prague conducted a Labor Outreach Program, bringing essential government services closer to our kababayans. Services included Balik-Manggagawa contract verification, OWWA membership enrollment and renewal, and welfare consultations, allowing OFWs to conveniently access labor and welfare services without the need to travel to Prague.

Beyond delivering services, the outreach provided an opportunity to personally engage with our kababayans, listen to their concerns, and reaffirm the Philippine government’s commitment to protecting their rights, promoting their welfare, and supporting their journey abroad.

MWO Prague extends its heartfelt appreciation to the organizers, volunteers, community leaders, and everyone who contributed to the success of this year’s Pinoy Grill. Your dedication and spirit of service continue to strengthen the Filipino community in Poland and reflect the resilience, unity, and generosity that define us as a people.

Maraming salamat to everyone who made this meaningful gathering possible. We look forward to serving and walking alongside our Filipino communities in future outreach activities.

The Migrant Workers Office–Prague, headed by Labor Attaché Atty. Llewelyn D. Perez, advanced stronger protection and assistance mechanisms for Filipino workers in Lithuania through a meeting organized by the Lithuanian Trade Union Alliance with the Centre Against Human Trafficking and Exploitation.

The engagement opened wider avenues for OFWs to access legal assistance, social support, temporary shelter, case referral, and other forms of intervention in situations involving labor exploitation, employment contract violations, and related concerns. The parties also discussed closer coordination on information dissemination and community-based referrals so that Filipino workers will be more aware of available assistance and will be encouraged to seek help without fear.

As part of the visit, MWO–Prague also met with Filipino workers, assessed their welfare situation, and provided guidance on the appropriate complaint and assistance mechanisms. The Office likewise discussed strengthening cooperation with Filipino community groups in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, and other areas to broaden the reach of verified information and support services.

MWO–Prague expresses its appreciation to the Lithuanian Trade Union Alliance for facilitating the engagement and for its continuing assistance to Filipino workers in Lithuania.

The meeting was facilitated by the Lithuanian Trade Union Alliance and was also joined by Minister and Consul General Conrado Demdem, Jr. of the Philippine Embassy in Warsaw.

During the discussion, MWO–Prague presented its role in promoting lawful and ethical recruitment, including the assessment of foreign employers seeking to hire Filipino workers. The Employment Service also raised the possibility of a pilot project, beginning with a survey to assess the skills profile, training needs, and interest of Filipinos in Lithuania in acquiring new competencies for better employment opportunities.
