🇬🇷 🇫🇮 On 21 and 27 August 2026, the Embassy of Greece in Finland had the pleasure of welcoming a total of 55 teachers from eight Greek schools: EK Lamia, EPAL Drama, EPAL Nigrita, EPAL Chalastra, 2nd EPAL Katerini, EPAL Salamina, EPAL Atalanti and the 5th Model Gymnasium of Chalkida, who visited Finland as part of an staff mobility programme in school education.

During their visits, the teachers had extended and particularly fruitful conversations, focusing on Finland, its educational system and lifestyle, while also exploring broader topics related to the history, culture and relations between Greece and Finland.

We greatly appreciated the opportunity to welcome educators from Greece, exchange views and experiences, and contribute to meaningful educational and cultural dialogue that further strengthens the longstanding ties between our two countries.

Our warmest thanks to all the teachers for their visit, their interest and the inspiring exchange and we would like to point out their excellent work and contribution.🇬🇷🤝🇫🇮

🏅 Miltos Tentoglou – Gold in the men’s long jump at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. With this victory, Tentoglou claimed his fourth consecutive European outdoor title in the event — an extraordinary achievement after his previous European golds in 2018, 2022 and 2024. 👑🥇
🥈 Emmanouil Karalis – Silver in the men’s pole vault at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. 🇬🇷🥈
🚣 Petros Gkaidatzis – Gold in the Lightweight Men’s Single Sculls at the 2026 European Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy. 🇬🇷🥇
🤽 Greek Men’s Water Polo Team – Gold at the 2026 World Aquatics Men’s Water Polo World Cup Final in Sydney, Australia, defeating Hungary 15–14 in a thrilling final to claim Greece’s first-ever global crown in men’s water polo. 🌍🥇

From European champions to global champions, these victories showcase the incredible talent, determination and fighting spirit of Greek sport. 🇬🇷👏

🇬🇷 The Embassy of Greece in Helsinki was delighted to take part in the EU National Institutes for Culture Museums Day, bringing together colleagues for a wonderful morning of art, culture and conversation.

We had the pleasure of visiting two inspiring exhibitions: 🇵🇱 Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz at HAM Helsinki Art Museum and 🇪🇪 Estonian artist Edith Karlson at Kiasma.

A special thank you to the amazing curators who guided us through the exhibitions and offered fascinating insights into the artists’ work and creative worlds.

Appreciation to Katarzyna Drozd from the Polish Embassy Helsinki for bringing us together and making this inspiring cultural morning possible.

It was a great opportunity to meet with colleagues, exchange impressions, and enjoy Helsinki’s vibrant cultural scene together. A truly inspiring morning! 🎨✨

🎬🇬🇷🇫🇮 The Embassy of Greece in Finland was extremely pleased to support the avant premiere of “Laula minulle Arja” at .fi Lasipalatsi.

The inspiring documentary tells the extraordinary story of Finnish
singer and human rights activist Arja Saijonmaa, her
remarkable achievements, and her lifelong friendship and musical
journey with legendary Greek composer and freedom fighter Mikis
Theodorakis.

Their story is a beautiful reflection of the enduring cultural
ties between Greece and Finland, connected through music, friendship, peace and shared values.

🇬🇷🍷 The Embassy provided a selection of Greek wines to
honour the occasion, adding a taste of Greece to this special
evening, while the Ambassador of Greece to Finland
had the chance to share her thoughts on the documentary and
highlighted the importance of Arja’s legacy.

A moving film and a powerful portrait of an exceptional woman
whose voice has reached far beyond the stage.

🏏🇬🇷 Greece takes the field in Finland!

Finland is hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier C, bringing together 10 national cricket teams from across Europe in Kerava and Vantaa, 14–21 August 2026. The tournament is part of the qualification pathway for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, with Greece competing in Group B alongside Germany, Portugal, Czechia and Israel.

🇬🇷 The Embassy of Greece in Finland was pleased to be represented at the first match of the Greek national team, as Greece faced Czechia in Kerava on 15th of August.
Embassy representatives joined the international cricket community to support the Greek team and celebrate the spirit of sport, friendship and international cooperation that this tournament brings to Finland.

It was a great opportunity to stand alongside the Greek national team, meet members of the international cricket community and experience first-hand the growing enthusiasm for cricket in Finland. 🏏🇫🇮

For those discovering cricket for the first time, the tournament offers a wonderful introduction to one of the world's most popular sports — and for experienced fans, plenty of exciting international action!
