At this afternoon’s UNSC briefing on Ukraine, the PR of Greece:
↪️ condemned the Russian attacks of June 14 against Ukrainian cities and any attacks against civilians and civilian objects, wherever they may occur, and called for full respect of international humanitarian and international human rights law
↪️ joined UNESCO in condemnation of the attack against the Kiyv-Pechersk Lavra Οrthodox monastery complex and any attacks against cultural property and educational institutions.
↪️ underlined that this protracted war must end through a negotiated settlement leading to a just and lasting peace based on international law, the UN Charter and the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all states.
↪️ emphasized that no peace in Ukraine can be agreed without Ukraine and that Europe should be actively involved in any future arrangements on robust security guarantees and in a final peace agreement that will preclude the recurrence of war and ensure a sovereign, independent and democratic future for Ukraine.

Good news for summer! ☀️

You can swim safely in Europe’s bathing waters.

The latest European Bathing Water Report shows that 85% of bathing sites in the EU are rated ‘excellent’, while 96% meet at least the minimum quality standards.

Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria and Austria record the highest shares of excellent waters.

This didn’t happen by chance. It is the result of EU environmental legislation and efforts by EU countries to improve water quality across Europe.

Ambassador Natalia-M. Karageorgou had a wonderful visit to Oulu and Raahe, centered on honoring the legacy of Philhellene A.M. Myhrberg.

The journey included a welcoming courtesy call with Outi Rouru and an engaging lunch in Raahe hosted by Mayor Leena Mikkola-Riekkinen, Museum Director Eija Turunen, and Communications Manager Leena Törmälä.

The group also enjoyed meaningful cultural discussions with Heikki Myllylä, a pleasant lunch in Oulu with City Council Chairman Jarmo Husso, and an insightful presentation by Honorary Consul Weikko Kotila. The highlight was the moving unveiling of the Myhrberg plaque, celebrating the lasting bond between our nations.
