YIT:n edustaja otti yhteyttä kouluumme jo keväällä ja kysyi, olisiko jollain luokalla halua lähteä mukaan projektiin, jossa työmaa-aita koristellaan paikallisten lasten ja nuorten taiteella. Ja kyllähän meillä oli!

Esplanadien puiston alla kulkee vesihuoltotunneli, johon liittyvään maanpäälliseen työmaa-aitaan YIT pyysi oppilaita maalaamaan vesiaiheisia töitä.

Oppilaat saivat kahdeksassa ryhmässä suunnitella työnsä itse. Oppilaat olivat superinnostuneita projektista ja työt valmistuivat ennätysajassa, vaikka aikataulu olikin tiukka.

Valmiit työt ovat esillä Esplanadin puistossa Taiteiden yössä torstaina 20.8.! Työt saadaan myös takaisin koululle syyskuun puolella, kun työmaa-aita puretaan.

A representative from YIT contacted our school back in the spring and asked if any of our classes would be interested in participating in a project to decorate a construction site fence with artwork created by local children and teens. And of course we were!

A water utility tunnel runs beneath Esplanadi Park, and YIT asked students to paint water-themed artwork on the construction fence surrounding it.

The students, divided into eight groups, were able to plan their projects on their own. They were extremely enthusiastic about the project, and the paintings were completed in record time, even though the schedule was tight.

The finished artworks will be on display in Esplanadi Park during the Night of the Arts on Thursday, August 20! The artworks will also be returned to the school sometime in September, once the construction fence is taken down.

Kirjailija Samuel Davidkin vieraili koulullamme ja kertoi työstään. Hän rohkaisi yläkoulun oppilaita lukemaan.

Viime viikolla PYP:n oppilaskunnan hallitus herkutteli jätskeillä lähipuistossa. Summasimme yhdessä kulunutta kautta, jolla olimme onnistuneet toteuttamaan monia hyviä ideoita. Rohkaisemme hakemaan mukaan oppilaskunnan hallitukseen, sillä siellä pääsee vaikuttamaan koulun asioihin, saa vastuuta ja kokea sellaista mitä muuten ei ehkä saisi. Ja tietysti se on myös kivaa! Keräsimme myös neuvoja ensi vuoden hallitukselle: Erityisesti kannattaa keskittyä kokouksissa ja kuunnella muita sekä kysyä heidän mielipiteitään, ja ottaa kaikki irti kokemuksesta!

Last week, the PYP student council board enjoyed ice cream at a nearby park. Together, we reflected on the past school year, during which we successfully carried out many great ideas. We encourage everyone to apply to join the student council board, as it offers a chance to influence school matters, take on responsibility, and experience things you might not otherwise get to do. And of course, it’s also a lot of fun! We also collected advice for next year’s board members: It’s especially important to stay focused during meetings, listen to others and ask for their opinions, and make the most of the experience!

Ressu Middle School, along with Ressu High School and FINDS (Finnish National Debating Society) hosted a friendly spring spar for 7 schools on Tuesday evening. There were prizes for best speakers. Our own middle school Nationals Champions won both rounds and Aava Hannelius won best middle school speaker. Congratulations! 🎉

Thanks to all the Ressu student volunteers, the sixteen teams that competed, our dedicated judges, and all the organizers and hosts that made the event possible!

Special shoutout to our two hard working teams that competed and spoke so well! 🏆

Mikä viikonloppu Göteborgissa alle 16-vuotiaiden maahockeyjoukkueellemme! Pitkän ja uuvuttavan turnauksen jälkeen kova työ kannatti, sillä joukkue kruunattiin Hockey 5 -mestariksi.

Tulosten lisäksi pelaajat edustivat Ressua erinomaisella joukkuehengellä, loistavalla käytöksellä, sekä jatkuvasti välittävällä ja positiivisella asenteella koko viikonlopun ajan. Emme voisi olla ylpeämpiä siitä, miten he tukivat toisiaan sekä kentällä että sen ulkopuolella. Ikimuistoinen saavutus ja upea joukko nuoria, joiden kanssa matkustaa. Hienoa työtä, joukkue!✨

What a weekend in Gothenburg for our Under 16 field hockey team! After a long and tiring tournament, the hard work was all worth it as the team were crowned Hockey 5 champions.

Beyond the results, the players represented Ressu Comprehensive School with outstanding team spirit, excellent behaviour, caring attitudes, and a consistently positive outlook throughout the weekend. We could not be prouder of the way they supported one another both on and off the field.

A memorable achievement and a fantastic group of young people to travel with. Well done, team!✨
