What would a stronger, more coordinated response to hate look like across Lancashire?
At our Lancashire Against Hate event, participants explored this question alongside another equally important one: how can we respond more effectively when hate incidents and community tensions occur?
The discussions highlighted several areas where change is needed, from better coordination between communities, grassroots organisations and agencies, to faster communication that can challenge misinformation before tensions escalate. Participants also highlighted the importance of building trust in reporting, strengthening local community intelligence, improving education and awareness, and making sure there is clear accountability when hate incidents occur.
One message stood out: strong relationships need to exist before a crisis happens, not be built during one.
The challenge now is to turn these conversations into meaningful action. That means creating a Lancashire-wide approach that listens to communities, learns from evidence, and brings organisations together to respond effectively when hate occurs.
This is where the next phase of Lancashire Against Hate begins.
