We’ve served a closure notice on Sandy Lane Mini Market in Barnoldswick, following years of being linked to ongoing criminality.

The shop on Albert Road was visited in September by officers from our Prosper Partnership Team and partners from Lancashire County Council Trading Standards, who found more than 600 packets of illegal to***co and ci******es in a secret compartment – which you can see on the video below 👇

The shop had also failed numerous failed inspections and test purchases, and on Wednesday a closure order was granted at Burnley Magistrates Court, meaning it won’t be able to open for three months (the cap for initial closure orders under UK law).

We know this kind of criminality has an impact on our communities and we thank you for sharing your concerns with us – they are listened to and acted upon.

You will remember that yesterday we asked for your help to find Marcus Pratt who was wanted for failing to comply with s*x offender notification requirements.

We also told you that Pratt, who had links to Burnley and Colne, had been arrested in Blackpool.

To update you further, Pratt, 46, of Lord Street, Blackpool, has been charged with failing to comply with s*x offender notification requirements.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court today.

As legal poroceedings are now active, we have turned off comments on this post so not to risk prejudicing future court hearings.

This morning we asked for your help to find Marcus Pratt, 46, who was wanted for failing to comply with s*x offender not...

Do you know the legislation around the use of fireworks?

We are working proactively with our partners to tackle the misuse of fireworks in Pendle and want to remind you of the rules.

You cannot buy 'adult' fireworks (Category 2 and 3) if you’re under the age of 18, and it is against the law to set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except on certain occasions (Bonfire Night, New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year).

You cannot set off or throw fireworks – including sparklers – in the street or other public spaces.

You can be fined an unlimited amount and imprisoned for up to six months for selling or using fireworks illegally. You could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90.

We know it can be frustrating and distressing when fireworks are set off. If an emergency is ongoing, please call 999. You can also report any incidents to 101 or online, and if you would like to report anonymously you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

If you spot a drone overhead, it might not always be just admiring the scenery.

Using plain-clothed officers, unmarked vehicles and drone technology, our officers are continuously tackling anti-social behaviour and illegal vehicle use across Pendle.

During a day of targeted action last week, a number of e-scooters and e-bikes were seized, while various Traffic Offence Reports were issued and a car was also seized for being used in the commission of crime.

Let's just say some riders got an unexpected audience... and not the kind they were hoping for.

Do you know the law when it comes to e-scooters and e-bikes?

If you have one – or your children do – then you might want to give the video below a watch, so you can make sure you’re actually be able to use it 👇

We’re proactively targeting those riding e-scooters and e-bikes illegally in and around Colne – and ‘not knowing the law’ will not be a valid excuse!

We know the misuse of fireworks is an issue for our residents, especially in the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night.

We’re working proactively with our partners to tackle this – and we need your help.

If you see or hear fireworks being set off, please report this to us – in as much detail as possible, including sharing names of offenders, street names (and house numbers if possible), and any video footage. If you film any incidents, please make sure you’re protected, as your safety is paramount.

If you know any shops that are selling fireworks illegally, please do let us know.

We know it can be frustrating and distressing when fireworks are set off. Please help us know where, when, and who to target.

If an emergency is ongoing, please call 999. You can report any incidents to 101 or online, and if you would like to report anonymously you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Hi everyone! 👋

I wanted to quickly introduce myself - I’m Phil Brown, the new Chief Inspector for Neighbourhood Policing, covering Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale and the Ribble Valley.

I recently joined Lancashire Constabulary after starting my career in Greater Manchester Police back in 2006, where I gained experience in roles across Response and Neighbourhood Policing.

I’m delighted to start my new role in the East of Lancashire, as I’m passionate about Neighbourhood Policing, having spent a considerable part of my career in Neighbourhood roles. I’m particularly excited to lead on the ‘Clear Hold Build’ project, the Prosper Partnership, in Nelson.

Thanks so much for your support!
