Strathclyde 4x4 Response

Strathclyde 4x4 Response We are the West of Scotland Team of the 4x4 Response Network. The severe winter conditions seen in 2009/2010 and again in 2010/2011 have seen many teams active.

Strathclyde 4×4 Response assists numerous organisations during times of difficult driving conditions from delivering meals on wheels to vulnerable people, and helping community nurses visit their patients. We provide experienced volunteer off road drivers to assist the emergency and public services in times of need.

Well what a day!

Excellent day at Motherwell Police Open Day.
Great weather and around 2000 tickets for the day.
220 wee kids goody bags handed out. Unfortunately we ran out with 2 hours still to go. 😢

We ran out of every sticker we had and all the sweets we brought for the day as well.

Need to bring a van load next year.

More good contacts made again today with Police in the area and divisional headquarters.

Now a few of the guys are away to Glasgow for the Shine Walk !
Busy weekend for S4x4R.

Contacts made, meetings arranged and public engaged.
What more could you ask for from a Saturday at the Clydebank Fire Station Open Day.

The teams next outing will be Motherwell Police Station Open Day on Saturday 29th August. That appears to be a sold out event so should be another great day.

Hopefully the weather will be kind.

See you there hopefully

If your in the Clydebank area tomorrow, Saturday 22nd August between 11am and 3pm, come along to the Clydebank Fire Station open day 2026.
Some of the team will be there to chat with about what we do and how you can volunteer with the group.
Not all roles require a 4x4 vehicle to be able to assist the group.
Hope to see you there 😁

Today the team attended the Blantyre Community Fun Day.
Great public engagement event.
Weather was a little poor and that showed in the turn out.
But those that did had a great day.
Great to see the public getting involved with all the emergency services that also attended the event.
Roll on the next event.

Several dedicated members of the group attended East Kilbride Farm Show yesterday and assisted with parking and marshalling of members of the public and some of the four legged 🐴 attendees of the show.

Weather was a little “Scottish” in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon.
Foot fall at the stand was a little slower than usual however good engagement with members of the public.

See you all again next year.

Another fantastic weekend supporting one of our valued charity partners!

This weekend, four of our dedicated volunteers headed “down south” to support Hike Events and Cancer Research. We’ve proudly worked alongside Hike Events for several years, providing support for the Big Hike in the Trossachs, and this year we were delighted to be invited to assist with their new Big Hike event in Grasmere and Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District.

With an early start ahead, the team enjoyed a wee overnight stay at the local youth hostel before getting underway. The day began at 6:30am under grey skies and light drizzle, but it wasn’t long before the clouds cleared and the Lake District turned on the sunshine, with temperatures climbing into the high 20s for most of the day.

For this event we deployed three of our 4x4 vehicles, transporting marshals, setting up support and water stations, and assisting with marshalling duties at several challenging road crossings.

We also deployed one of our team , who is a paramedic, on a motorbike as a mobile first aider for the first time.

Given the narrow, busy roads around Grasmere and Ambleside, this proved to be an excellent asset, allowing rapid access wherever it was needed.

The team had a brilliant day and were pleased to lend a helping hand to a number of participants along the route, helping to ensure everyone completed the event safely.

A huge thank you to Hike Events and Cancer Research for inviting us along once again. It’s always a privilege to support such a fantastic event and an incredible cause.

Roll on next year!

Our annual pilgrimage to Tinto Hill to assist St. Andrew's Hospice with the school hill climb.

We had minimum 2 responders every day for 8 days to assist with road safety when the buses arrive on site.
Busiest day there were 13 buses delivering the school pupils from all over Lanarkshire for the walk up the hill.

We had to be deployed on the hill a few times to assist first aiders on scene getting pupils off the hill safely.

Great days had by all and look forward to assisting with this great fundraising event next year.

Thank you St Andrews Hospice for trusting us again.

A busy weekend last weekend at BIG HIKE Trossachs with Cancer Research.

11 responders deployed to assist with water transport for walkers, road crossing marshals and radio coms for the event.

Early start on the Saturday morning so some of the guys set up on Friday evening and had a chilly 🥶 evening in Callander.

Looking forward to the next event with Big Hike and Cancer Research UK
Thanks for trusting us again this year.
