Strathclyde 4x4 Response

Strathclyde 4x4 Response We are the West of Scotland Team of the 4x4 Response Network. The severe winter conditions seen in 2009/2010 and again in 2010/2011 have seen many teams active.

Strathclyde 4ร—4 Response assists numerous organisations during times of difficult driving conditions from delivering meals on wheels to vulnerable people, and helping community nurses visit their patients. We provide experienced volunteer off road drivers to assist the emergency and public services in times of need.

Yesterday we were at the Emergency Services and Beyond Show at Lomond Shores โ€“ what a brilliant (and free!) family day out organised by Police Scotland Argyll & West Dunbartonshire

It was also a bit of a milestone day for us, as we gave an unofficial first look launch at our nearly completed multi-use trailer ๐Ÿ‘€

This has been around 18 months in the making and is shaping up to be a seriously versatile bit of kit. It can be used as a mobile control unit, welfare unit, or even a mobile classroom. On top of that, itโ€™s being set up with multi-band radios, satellite comms, and VoIP phones โ€“ giving it real potential as a multi-agency communications unit.

Itโ€™s been a real team effort, with a few of our members putting in a lot of time and hard work over the last few months to get it to this stage.

Weโ€™re almost there now โ€“ just a few final jobs to complete before itโ€™s fully operational and ready to go.

A big thank you as well to the National Lottery Community Fund for their support and funding โ€“ we couldnโ€™t have done this without you ๐Ÿ™Œ

Along with our new trailer we had a couple of pieces of equipment that one of our partners Supply 2 Location gave us use of for the show.
A mobile lighting Rig and a fresh water bowser.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of equipment we can have access to for use on deployments or events.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Now hereโ€™s where you come inโ€ฆ

If youโ€™re part of an emergency service, community organisation, or local business and think this could support your work โ€” whether thatโ€™s incidents, events, training, or resilience planning โ€” weโ€™d love to hear from you.

Drop us a message, start a conversation, and letโ€™s see how we can work together to put this resource to good use in the community ๐Ÿ‘

A great day last year. Hopefully the same this year.
Come along and see us on Sat 11th April

Looking forward to this!

Come along to Loch Lomond Shores on Saturday 11th April for the TO EMERGENCIES AND BEYOND DAY between 11am and 3pm!

This event goes beyond the more traditionally well-known emergency service providers and gives a platform for a wider section of the public sector to have their work seen, allowing the community to engage with them in person.

Alongside the static displays, the Police Scotland Pipe Band will be performing, police dogs will be present and the Luss Rescue Boat will be on display.

With plenty of food and drink on offer, we'll be there throughout the day, itโ€™s a great free event for the community to attend.

Well attended Navigation and Map Reading desktop training evening. Practical to follow in a couple of months.

A little late with the updates as the winter lurgy caught hold over the weekend ๐Ÿค’

Saturday saw 15 members of the group take part in one of our competency training days with a first aid awareness day.

There was even a little gift for the members that did attend ๐ŸŽ

Thanks as always goto St. Andrew's Hospice for the use of the auditorium teas and coffees.
Lunch in the cafe was great also.

Next training event will be another competency, amateur radio license foundation level pre exam training.
(Group members please update the training calendar)

We have been spared a lot of the bad weather that other groups have experienced but training continues for those that attended.
Getting us all ready for any deployments coming up.
