IF THE INVADER COMES:
With the spectre of a N**i invasion looming over Britain, three children are forced into an unlikely allyship in this gripping wartime tale from multi-award-winning author Tom Palmer.
In June 1940 - after the devastating defeat of the British forces at Dunkirk, the terrifying prospect of a N**i invasion of Britain seems ever more likely. In these dark days, three children whose parents are involved in top-secret war work are brought together in unlikely ally ship, covering for their parents and facing down malicious gossip as they come under suspicion from their local community.
Forced to confront the brutal realities of war as it affects every aspect of their lives, the children find the courage to play their part, rescuing survivors and refugees at sea, and undertaking river patrols to detect German E-boat incursions. But when it appears that the invader is at their shores, will they be able to pull off the most daring feat of all?

It’s been wonderful to welcome teachers from St Joseph’s School into the library each month for our Tuesday Bounce and Rhyme sessions at 10am.

The sessions are always full of songs, stories and crafts to enjoy together. Our latest session was led by Mrs Dearle, who read Pirates Love Underpants — what a fantastic story choice! 📚

A big thank you to everyone from St Joseph's School - Launceston for joining us during the term and helping make these sessions so special.
We look forward to many more mornings of fun and reading together!

We were delighted to welcome 29 children from Windmill Hill Academy Preschool and Reception Class to the library on Friday 22nd May for a special visit all about London and the Royal Family.

During their time with us, Nerissa and Pat shared some wonderful stories, and the children enjoyed exploring a selection of books linked to London, Buckingham Palace, guardsmen, the Tower of London and more.

The group also got creative with some fun craft activities, decorating crowns and making their own London-themed pictures using lots of colourful stickers.

A big thank you to the smaller group who happily posed for photos wearing their fantastic decorated crowns! 👑📚🇬🇧

If your school or class would like to arrange a visit to the library, please get in touch — we’d love to welcome you.

The library has recently been asked for a great deal of support with form filling, debt advice, and financial help. While we are always happy to help where we can, we feel it is important to refer people to agencies trained to support, like Community Money Advice Launceston.
They are a team of volunteers, including trained money advisers, who offer free and confidential advice to anyone experiencing problems.

Special Storytime here at the library, 10am Tuesday 19th May with Mrs Dearle from St Joseph's School - Launceston

We’ll be sharing this wacky picture book, pairing pirates and underwear in an uproarious adventure. These pirates SO love underpants!
They're on a special quest to find the fabled Pants of Gold, for the Captain's treasure chest.
