🌹 When a Labour Council, a Labour Metro Mayor and a Labour Government work hand in hand to deliver for residents, amazing things can happen.

🟑 And for the avoidance of doubt, St John's Tower was lit up yellow to celebrate the new Beatles experience, not because Villareal were playing Liverpool last night.

🚨 A NEW, WORLD LEADING BEATLES EXPERIENCE IN LIVERPOOL 🚨

🌹 Liverpool Labour, working with the Labour Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, have been working closely with Apple Corps to build an official, world-leading, immersive Beatles experience at St John's Market.

🎀 The Beatles Story will use immersive technology, original artefacts and spectacular reconstructed sets to bring the Beatles' extraordinary story to life in the heart of our city. St John's Beacon will also be transformed into a Yellow Submarine experience 🟑

πŸ“† Due to open in 2028, ticket sales will support Apple Corps Liverpool Trust, a new charitable initiative to provide financial support and opportunities for Liverpool artists and cultural events.

⭐ This is absolutely huge for our city, and the crowing jewel of what will be an incredible 2028 for Liverpool

🚨 LIB DEMS BLOCK LABOUR'S HMO RESTRICTIONS 🚨

Liverpool Labour has worked hard over the last three years to end the scourge of HMOs by bringing forward new Article 4 directions to protect more areas of our city. These changes were due to come into force on 20 October; now, thanks to the grandstanding of Carl Cashman and the Liberal Democrats, these new powers will be delayed, leaving our communities helpless at the hands of rogue developers.

Thanks to the Liberal Democrats, Kirkdale West and East, Everton North, County, Walton, Orrell Park, Fazakerely North and West, Tuebrook, Old Swan, Stoneycroft, Penny Lane, Calderstones, St Michaels, Sefton Park and Festival Gardens now face the prospect of even more HMOs in their areas. Labour did the hard work to protect these communities, working hand-in-hand with residents; the Liberal Democrats have shown that they don’t care what local residents think and are happy for them to be used as pawns in their political games.

The Liberal Democrats worked with the Tories to get us into this mess, allowing HMOs to be built anywhere and everywhere. Now that Labour has found a way to protect our communities and undo the damage, the Liberal Democrats have shown their true Conservative colours to stifle and frustrate the process.

It’s clear that the Liberal Democrats do not care about the residents of Liverpool, otherwise they would welcome these changes. Every other party on Liverpool City Council has welcomed these changes. Our constituents have told us they wanted these changes; Labour delivered them. The Liberal Democrats have now picked their side in the fight; the side of rogue developers.

Out in force again this weekend! πŸ’ͺ

Labour members and volunteers have been speaking to residents, listening to concerns and discussing our plans for the future. Every conversation helps us build a stronger campaign and stay connected to the communities we serve.

Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to get involved. 🌹

🚨 ICYMI 🚨

Last week, Liverpool City Council's Labour Cabinet passed a report that paves the way for the first dedicated Care Leavers Hub in the City Centre.

This space will provide a place for multi-agency services, as well as offering support to young people with experience of care and help them with the transition to adulthood

🚨 Labour's Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Hetty Wood, explains why the new Article 4 directives will give communities more power over whether they want HMOs.

The Lib Dems and the Tories changed the law to allow HMOs anywhere and everywhere. Liverpool Labour have done the hard work to challenge this so communities have an opportunity to object. πŸ‘‡οΈ

🟑 πŸ”΅ The Lib Dems worked with the Tories to change planning rules so that almost any property could be turned into a HMO without consultation with local residents.

πŸ”΄ Labour fought back. After a lengthy legal process, more areas are now covered by an Article 4 direction, meaning developers MUST secure planning permission before converting into HMOs.

πŸ’ͺ This means that local residents and council planners can now reject HMO conversions.

πŸ“† In 12 months time, the entire city will be covered by Article 4, thanks to Labour 🌹

πŸ“’ and council leaders across the Liverpool City Region are united in opposition to proposals that would limit how often residents can use their local recycling centres.

We risk making the problem of fly-tipping worse. The last thing we need is more red tape getting in the way of doing the right thing.
