⛔ The A5 Hints Bypass will be closed in both directions overnight on nine nights this August to allow essential bridge and highway works to take place by National Highways.

✅ Staffordshire highways crews will soon be carrying out road improvement works using the JCB Pothole Pro, helping repairs and resurfacing to be completed more efficiently.

Great turnout last night as residents met with Cllr Hayley Coles and Amington ward councillors to raise concerns over Owl Partnerships’ plans for 61 homes off Moor Lane, particularly around access via the railway bridge.

A site visit with the developer is being arranged to highlight the impact at busy times. Thank you to all who came along.

Councillor Hayley Coles, alongside fellow Amington ward councillors Lewis Smith and Andrew Wells, met with concerned residents last night regarding proposals from Owl Partnerships to build 61 new homes off Moor Lane, as promised.

Many issues were raised, one of the most significant being access via the railway bridge, as the current plans would see new traffic lights installed and the carriageway reduced to a single lane, raising real concerns about congestion and safety for existing residents.

Contact has been opened with residents via email to keep them updated, and we are aiming to arrange a site visit with the developer at a busy time, alongside key residents, to demonstrate the access concerns for ambulance, fire and other emergency services.

Thank you to everyone from the community who turned out and shared their concerns. We will do our best to understand the full impact of these proposals and what the next steps are.

On Friday 31st July from 13:00 - 16:00 we will be holding a FREE bike marking event at the BMX Track in Glascote Heath.

The event has been created to provide cycle security advice and offer security marking and registration onto the BikeRegister online database.

Registering your bike helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold. It can lead to both victims being reunited with their property and the identification of offenders.

You MUST bring your bike with you to the event.

At Staffordshire County Council, we’re corporate parents. That means we have a responsibility to protect children in Staffordshire.

Last week, our Deputy Leader and local councillor for the Heaths and Amington ward, Hayley Coles, brought a motion to Full Council raising concerns about puberty blockers trials involving young people. It passed, with all parties present agreeing we should take responsibility, look at the research and understand it to protect the children.

It’s good to see cross party support for the children of Staffordshire. This motion was led by Reform UK.🇬🇧
