Corbett Community Library

Corbett Community Library We are a mainly volunteer-run and charity-funded centre - still providing the same library services, and more at that!

The Archibald Corbett Society and the Corbett Residents Association have joined forces to create the Corbett Community Library, Arts and Heritage Centre as a charity and taken over the management of Torridon Road Library from Lewisham Council. The Library has been developed into a community hub, the Corbett Community Centre, to promote the following charitable purposes: the advancement of educatio

n, the advancement of arts and heritage and the advancement of citizenship and community development for the benefit of residents living within the surrounding area with a specific emphasis on services for families and young and older people. The existing library service has been extended to encourage digital inclusion, provide weekly sessions for school groups and weekend tuition for school children and develop family and adult education facilities. The Library has become a centre for encouraging local residents to learn about the heritage of the area they reside in. The Charity has also advanced the arts through regular exhibitions promoting the work of local artists and craft makers, holding music recitals featuring local musicians and hosting performances. The Library is a Dementia Friendly Centre and holds activities for older people to include their carers and a number of advice services are available targeted at different age groups.

We are looking for local musicians, singers, and performers to volunteer (in return for tea and cake) to be part of the Human Jukebox on Saturday 3rd Oct between 10-5pm. The idea is simple: you are the jukebox - visitors can choose a song from your repertoire, and you play it live.
This Fun Palace also marks the start of our 10th anniversary celebrations, so we are looking forward to making it a special day of creativity, music, and community.
💛 If interested please get in touch at [email protected] and let us know!
And a huge thank you to Emily and Kate for bringing their awesome creativity to our first Fun Palace. 🎶

10th ANNIVERSARY SPONSORSHIP

🎂 10 years. 30 days. One very special community celebration.

This October, Corbett Community Library celebrates a decade of being run by volunteers and powered by the community.

We’re marking the occasion with a packed month of events from 1–30 October 2026 — including a Fun Palace, Heritage Talk, Artist PechaKucha, Disco Under the Dome, our Art Auction, a new community mosaic, the Catford Arts Trail and much more.

We’re looking for a sponsor for our anniversary month to help us deliver this ambitious programme and keep our celebrations accessible to everyone.

In return, we’ll put your support firmly at the heart of our 10th anniversary celebrations and showcase your commitment to our local community.

💛 Could you help us celebrate 10 years of volunteer power?

🌟 Calling local food vendors! 🌟
From September, we’re starting a mini food market every Saturday outside the library.
🍛 Last Outpost ‘Gourmet Exchange’ will be serving Caribbean favourites weekly, joined every other Saturday by Dora’s Sourdough Bakery.
☕ Alongside them, Mont58 will be serving fresh coffee, pastries and savoury treats.
We have space for 2 more stalls and are looking for something complementary — no more baked goods or hot food, but groceries and other food products would be great. Weekly or fortnightly traders welcome!
Interested? Email [email protected] with details of what you offer. 💚
