Our monthly Memory Cafe is a group for those living with dementia and their carers. Supported by Alzheimer's Society, it runs the first Thursday of every month at 10.30am.

The next session on Thursday 6 August will have a special guest...

Join artist Dale for Action Art Play! He will be delivering a relaxed, creative session specially designed for people living with dementia. Combining gentle movement, games, and art, this welcoming session encourages participants to connect, express themselves, and enjoy the moment in a supportive environment.

Come along for a chance to get active, spark creativity and relax together.

Wow! This year's Summer Reading Challenge has got off to an incredible start 🤩

It's been great to sign so many of you up to the challenge to read 6 books this summer holiday, and there's still time to register if you haven't yet done so - just look for our volunteer desk in the children's area.

Our 'Read to the Beat' character trail is up and around the library too - here's a sneak pic of Patryck! If you can find him and his friends around the library you can get a little treat reward from the Hello Desk thanks to our friends at Community Champion Tesco Maldon

And don't forget Block Builders Club is on every Saturday 2pm - free, drop-in Lego session for all.

Who's joining us for Thursday Fun?

Looking for something to do with the children tomorrow? Drop into the library between 10 am and 12 for a morning of creativity, challenges and reading fun.

Make a summer craft, follow our character trail around the library and visit the Summer Reading Challenge desk to collect your stickers.

There's no need to book and it's completely free to take part.

And while you're here, don't forget you can borrow up to 14 books – perfect for keeping young readers busy throughout the summer holidays.

Sometimes at Men's Gaming Cove we like to mix things up and revisit some classic games... does anyone remember Donkey Konga? 🦍

It was a huge hit at our last session and brought back plenty of memories!

Beginners' art classes for adults, hosted by Adult Community Learning, are coming to Maldon Library!

There will be three sessions, over three weeks.

Session 1: Mindful Marks
Unwind and let go. Use a simple biro to turn chaotic scribbles into beautiful, meditative art.

Session 2: Clear Expressions
Explore a new perspective. Paint with bold acrylics on clear acetate for a layering effect that clears the mind.

Session 3: Crafted Calm
Slow down and get hands-on. Enjoy the therapeutic, tactile process of decoupage to give old jam jars a second life.

No experience or equipment needed, just bring your creativity!
