On Wednesday, we educated young people across Greater Manchester on life-saving first aid as part of Stop the Bleed Day.

Stop the Bleed Day is a partnership initiative between GMVRU and citizenAID that aims to equip young people with the skills to potentially save a life.

This year, we were joined by colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) and Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership (Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership)

The GMVRU’s director, Damian Dallimore, paid a visit to the BBC studios this morning to discuss our work supporting young people in Greater Manchester.

The VRU provides services to support, guide, encourage and inspire young people away from violence

💬 “We work in partnership with hospitals and schools, probation, the voluntary sector, a range of partners, to really understand why it is that young people want to carry knives in the first place.

“If we can put the right measures in there, not just policing but youth provision and activities to divert young people away, then we’ll see a result from that”

The Trauma Responsive Greater Manchester Conference took place yesterday at Bolton’s Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The event showcased the great trauma-responsive work going on across the city region, hearing from a range of experts from education to research and voices from the community with lived-experiences.

The conference was a great reminder of the impact trauma responsive practices have had on local people, whilst also highlighting upcoming plans and acknowledging the support needed to grow any future campaigns.
