Colwick Parish Council is delighted to welcome Ruth Wood as our new Street Cleaner. The Council has been seeking a new member of the team to fill this vital role for sometime and, after two weeks in post, she has literally hit the ground running!

Ruth is committed to improving our environment and has worked as a volunteer in the village previously. She will provide a vital link to Gedling BC and will liaise with our brilliant local litter picking groups. This is a priority service for the Council and we are proud to be delivering for our residents once again.

Please say hello to Ruth when you see her on her rounds and remember to play your part in keeping Colwick clean and tidy.

The Council is currently consulting on an Article 4 Direction within the Netherfield area which would remove permitted development rights to change the use of houses to small HMOs of up to 6 residents, meaning planning permission would be required.

This proposal is being brought forward to help the Council better manage the concentration and distribution of HMOs, ensure balanced and sustainable communities, and address local concerns.

The Council is keen to hear from residents, landlords and businesses before any decision is made. Your feedback will help inform whether and how the Direction is implemented. Further details, including the full Article 4 Direction notice, the areas affected, and how to submit your comments, are set out on the Council’s website https://orlo.uk/0agMu

Important update on PSPO effective in Colwick.

The Car Cruising Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has been extended.

The order will remain in place until June 2029 and helps tackle anti-social behaviour linked to organised car cruise events.

Working alongside Nottinghamshire Police, we're continuing to take action against behaviours that can put people at risk, including dangerous driving, racing, excessive noise and vehicle stunts.

Recent enforcement activity has seen action taken against those breaching the order, including the use of Fixed Penalty Notices where appropriate.

LGR decision made.

The boundary of Nottingham city is to expand as part of a huge shake-up of local government, the BBC understands.

Parts of the surrounding boroughs of Broxtowe, Gedling, and Rushcliffe are set to be merged with the city, with a new unitary authority created to manage all the area's council services.
