If you or someone you know is finding it hard to read a favourite book due to vision impairment, contact our friends at charity Sensory Services by Sight for Surrey. You can book a visit to their Resource Centre where you can discover how magnifiers, lighting, audio books and the talking books service can help you continue much-loved hobbies.
Enjoy reading books on a tablet device or kindle? The charity’s Assistive Tech team host a bi-monthly Let’s Talk Tech webinar, to help people use electronic devices more easily.

It’s , and our photo shows just a few of the ways we make reading accessible - but imagine if you were visually impaired, would you be able to spot them all? Things many of us take for granted often need a little extra explanation if you’re visually impaired: large‑print books, audiobooks from Libby App & BorrowBox, Braille books, clear signage, and staff who can guide you through every step.
We’re here to make sure everyone can enjoy stories in the way that works best for them - no barriers, just books.
