Dance Syndrome are a fantastic dance company founded by someone with Down's Syndrome.

Join DanceSyndrome for one night only as they present ORIGIN: A Mixed Bill at The Lowry (Salford) on Thursday 19th November. 💃

Developed through DanceSyndrome’s iCreate programme, which places artists with learning disabilities at the heart of the collaborative process, ORIGIN is a mixed bill of six newly commissioned dance pieces, created with international choreographers.

It is a defining moment: the beginning of something really exciting, a space where all artists are seen, valued and celebrated.

Discover practical, inclusive ways to use creative play & music to engage learners, build communication and support inclusion.

DIY Theatre Company, in partnership with Salford Local Cultural Education Partnership, are excited to offer this training for education staff and creative practitioners working in schools. We will provide practical examples of how music and creative play can be used by all school staff to engage children and young people, enhance teaching and learning and support access and inclusion for all learners in both SEND settings & Mainstream settings.

The session will be co-led by inclusive music specialist Sarah Atter working alongside DIY Theatre Company's Creative Director Sue Caudle and DIY leaders with lived experience of learning disability.

- using the ‘Sounds of Intent’ Framework - developing reactive, proactive and interactive engagement through music making

Do you miss the old Clarendon Leisure Centre?

Well the council are planning to build a new one on the same place.

You can go along to a meeting on Thursday 22nd October between 4pm and 7pm (it's a drop in, you do not have to stay for the whole time) where you tell them what you want to be there.

It is a chance to talk about any access needs you might have to be able to take part in sports, games, the gym and / or swim.

Plans for a new Clarendon Leisure Centre are taking shape and you have the chance to have your say.

Since the closure of the former centre, I have supported Salford City Council’s efforts to secure a replacement, raising the need for investment with Government and Sport England. I know how much these facilities mean to Salfordians.

The proposals include a 25-metre swimming pool, family splash pad, fitness suite, sports hall and community café, on a site next to Salford Shopping Centre.

The Council is holding a public consultation before submitting a planning application. Come along to see the proposals, meet the design team and share your views:

Things to do with Incredible Education this autumn.

October's here and Autumn is in full swing. This month sees our clocks going back on the 25th and the ancient Gaelic Autumn festival of Samhain - marking the end of the harvest and the start of Winter around the 31st. Over time Samhain became All Hallow's eve and is celebrated now by some as Hallowe'en. We mark this time of the year with our Pumpkin Palava Autumn celebration. Tickets are essential but free of charge. We look forward to seeing you soon, why not try a warming pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate at our Ivy Den cafe?

DIY Theatre Company just keep knocking it out of the park.
One of this season's projects is a sensory performance about friendship.
People with learning disabilities consistently speak about the importance of friendship and, sadly, the lack of it in their lives.

Lately, we’ve been developing a sensory performance about the importance of friendship. 💖

This included a training session with Positive Eye to help people with visual impairments enjoy our shows more fully...
..and we've started to put these ideas into practice with high-contrast, sensory props!

Thanks to artist Nerissa Cargill Thompson for helping us with these.

Healthy Hub from Salford Health Improvement at Walkden gateway every Tuesday between 2pm and 3pm.
Have a brew, maybe do some arts and crafts or play a game, meet new people and get advice about health and local community groups.

Healthy Hub at Eccles gateway is now on! With hot drinks, a cup a soup, arts and crafts and a general chat with new people! All ages welcome, come along and bring a friend 🙂 Happy Chatting!!
