ONE WEEK LEFT to register to vote in the Stirling Ward 2 by-election on Thursday 1st of October 2026, you need to be registered to vote! The deadline to register is midnight on Tuesday the 15th of September 2026. Don't leave it too late! Register online now at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

What is an absent vote? There are two types…

1. Postal Vote - You complete an application form containing your signature, if you are able to sign.
You receive your ballot paper in the mail before an election and post it back, ensuring it will arrive before the polls close.

2. Proxy vote - You complete a form telling us the name of someone you trust who you’ve chosen to go to the polling station if you can’t go. This person must be registered to vote.
Anyone can have a proxy vote for a single election, but there are strict rules about who can have a permanent proxy vote, usually to do with work, study, or disability.

How to apply - Contact us to request a form, or download one from our website below. What if I cannot sign the form? If you cannot make a consistent signature, you can still apply for a postal vote using our signature waiver form.

If you live in Stirling Ward 2 and are registered to vote, your poll card for the by-election on the 1st of October 2026 should arrive soon. If you don't receive one, contact us, as you may not be registered to vote! The deadline to register for this by-election is midnight on the 15th of September 2026.

In the weeks before an election, all eligible people who are registered to vote will be sent a letter known as a poll card. Your poll card contains the following information: the location of your polling station, the date of the election, the opening times, and your voting method.
