The ’Ber months are nearly here, and there’s plenty waiting beneath the surface at Kents Cavern… 🍂

⛏️ SEPTEMBER
Watch history being uncovered as a new live archaeological excavation begins inside the caves. Meet the archaeologists, discover recently uncovered artefacts and follow the search for new evidence of the people who once called Kents Cavern home. You can also enjoy Agatha Christie-inspired underground experiences and a special cheese-tasting evening.

🎃 OCTOBER
Britain’s Oldest Home goes darker. Follow the family-friendly Trick or Treat Trail, uncover the more gruesome side of Stone Age history on a Go Darker Tour, or enter the caves after hours for our new Ghost Walk.

🍁 NOVEMBER
After enjoying a crisp autumn walk along the South West Coast Path, warm up at Firestone Kitchen with comforting hot drinks and delicious food, all overlooking the beautiful Ilsham Valley.

🎄 DECEMBER
Journey underground on an interactive festive adventure before meeting Santa in the caves, or experience the magic of live choirs and Christmas music filling our ancient chambers at Carols in the Caves.

Imagine coming face-to-face with a creature that called Kents Cavern home around 420,000 years ago. 🐻

This incredible skull belonged to an ancestral cave bear, Ursus deningeri, one of the earliest inhabitants of Kents Cavern.

And the bears left behind much more than this.

Hundreds of bones and teeth have been discovered throughout the cave system, with evidence suggesting generations of bears used the caves to hibernate. Some of the oldest animal remains discovered here date back around 500,000 years.

Today, you can stand in the very caves these incredible animals once called home and come face-to-face with evidence of Britain's prehistoric past.
