Refugee Week 2026

What is Refugee Week? - Established in the UK in 1998, Refugee Week takes place every year around World Refugee Day (20th June) and has since grown into a global movement with over 2 million participants, across over 20 countries.
Through an exciting programme of thousands of events, activities and media campaigns, Refugee Week brings together people from different backgrounds to connect beyond labels, and foster a deeper understanding of why people are displaced, and the challenges they face when seeking safety.

Norfolk Libraries stock an extensive range of large print books, featuring old and new fiction and non-fiction titles. Over 14,000 titles!

Book Groups
Vision Norfolk run audio book clubs in our libraries. Sessions are once a
month and offer a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for anyone interested in books.

Braille picture books
There is a small collection of braille picture books. The braille picture books are on loan from Clear Vision, via YPS (Young People Services) and are regularly refreshed with new titles. This stock now includes Big Books.

eBooks and eAudio are available through the ‘Norfolk Digital Library’ and can
be downloaded onto mobile devices and e-readers free of charge. eBooks
allow magnification of text.

***Tomorrow in the Library***

Norfolk Libraries are creating spaces for people to meet and chat in a friendly, casual environment.

Come along to our Autism Café, allowing Autistic adults to meet up and socialise with puzzles, board games, and drinks. Feel free to pop in and stay for as long or as little as you'd like.

☕️ No need to book, drinks and games are provided - event takes place in the main library space from 12pm-1pm ☕

It is free to join the library, and library staff are on hand to help customers with
sight disabilities and to recommend services that will enhance their use of the
service.

Equal Access library membership
Users of Norfolk library service who have a visual impairment are entitled to an
‘Equal Access’ membership which means they do not have to pay the hire
charges on spoken word items and music CDs.

Overdue charges
There are no overdue charges on late items, other than DVDs, or any
reservation charges for people who are visually impaired.

Audio books on CD
We have a large stock of adult and young people’s audio books on CD
available to borrow for three weeks.
