York Learning's main focus is to support lifelong learning, develop people's skills and qualifications and help those seeking to return to the labour market. What we do:

Improve the quality of peoples lives by helping them gain skills to improve their health and well being with a wide range of part time adult education courses

Deliver a range of programmes to prepare people for work

Provide qualifications and skills for work, including supporting young people who or not in education, employment or training

Support those who want a qualification whilst in work, mainly though apprenticeships for young people and adults and flexible learning

Help local employers to improve the qualification levels of their workforce and increase their contribution to the economy

Help people improve their English and maths skills and gain a qualification.

Did you know that you can study English and maths, up to GCSE level, for free* at any age?
Our Functional Skills and GCSE classes are small, friendly groups led by experienced tutors, using relevant and topical resources. Courses take place at venues throughout York, with daytime and evening sessions across the week.
The courses are free as long as you do not already have an A-C/4+ grade in the subject you're studying.

The day will include step-by-step demonstration, as well as plenty of time to felt your own landscape picture to take home. You don't need to have any experience - just be willing to have a go!

This World Mental Health Day, let’s talk, listen, and support better mental health together.

World Mental Health Day takes place every year on 10 October.

It reminds us why good mental health is so important, and how we can prioritise it in our lives and communities. It’s also a moment to talk openly and listen to what others are experiencing.

The last in our series of short intro courses to ballroom dancing is coming up soon - your chance to learn Social Foxtrot!
Enjoy the smooth, easy-going feel of Social Foxtrot in this three week course designed for adult beginners. You'll learn the core rhythm, simple walking patterns and gentle turns that make Social Foxtrot on of the most versatile and enjoyable social dances. The pace is steady and supportive, giving you time to build confidence, develop your lead-and-follow skills, and move comfortably with a partner. Whether you're completely new to dancing or looking to refresh the basics, this course offers a friendly environment to experience the pleasure of gliding around the floor with ease!

Strictly: Introduction to Foxtrot starts on Tuesday 3 November for 3 weeks, 6:45pm - 7:45pm at Huntington School. The cost is £26 per person (please enrol with a dance partner).
