21 APR: SPC CONCEPCION
SPC Concepcion optimized Humatak Green Waste operations by relocating the mission tent and establishing a cone-based ECP with mayoral approval, directly ensuring mission success.

22 APR: SPC CUNNINGHAM
SPC Cunningham’s swift reporting of a Malesso wildfire to GFD and leadership allowed for critical safety alerts to be issued, safeguarding the community and military personnel.

22 APR: A1C TENORIO
A1C Tenorio took initiative to resolve an illegal dumping incident at Asan GWS by requiring the company to remove their waste, safeguarding the environment and the mission.

22 APR: SPC SANTOS
SPC Santos improved Oka site operations by implementing a marking system approved by DPW, which enhanced traffic flow and mission clarity.

Doing what we can.
Our recon team brought extra suitcases of donated supplies for our Saipan Soldiers and Airmen last week as part of a ground assessment and KLE. The Guam National Guard is standing by and ready to assist in the CNMI, pending federal authorization.

Top: A 9th Mission Support Command Fuel Tanker from the 797th Engineer Company, U.S. Army Reserve, fueled by the Guam National Guard and shipped by the U.S. Navy’s USS Portland , is en route to Saipan. Part of the whole of government response to Typhoon Sinlaku in the CNMI, the DoW efforts led by U.S. Army Pacific and Joint Task Force - Micronesia are ramping up.

It’s awareness for Month of the Military Child, Child Abuse Prevention, Substance Abuse, and other resilience initiatives. As we respond to the aftermath of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, it’s important we keep our family foundations strong. 💪

Underneath the large disaster response activities ramping up for are the small acts of kindness and inafa’maolek that mean just as much.

Shout out to our Joint Partners led by U.S. Army Pacific’s TJFLCC and Joint Task Force - Micronesia, along with the FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia, Honolulu District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and others who are steadily rolling into the NMI. 🤝

Answering the call at home: Guam National Guardsmen assist in post-Sinlaku recovery ❤️‍🩹

One capacity in which both Guam Army and Guam Air National Guardsmen are providing support is through the establishment and manning of traffic control points (TCPs).

Their responsibilities reach beyond giving “stop” and “go” signals and includes general driver and pedestrian safety.

“As a road guard, we aren’t just controlling the flow of traffic, we are also trained and able to respond to events that may be out of the ordinary,” said Staff Sgt. Edward Babauta, Army bandsman for the 721st Army Band.

“We are activated for the people of Guam,” said Babauta. “That’s what we are here for, to assist our community in any way necessary.
