New Academic Paper Alert! 📝

“Sustainable Energy Transition for BIMP Regional Power Grid with Technology Ranking and Optimal Mix” is now published in Applied Energy, co-authored by ACE researchers Aldilla Noor Rakhiemah, Muhammad Rizki Kresnawan, Indira Pradnyaswari, and Muhammad Ilham Rizaldi.

This paper develops an integrated LEAP-MCDA framework to rank renewable energy technologies for the interconnected Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines (BIMP) power grid.

The study finds that hydro offers the most balanced performance across scenarios, solar PV leads under favourable conditions, and a diversified renewable mix requiring 77-85 GW and USD 146-151 billion in investment offers the strongest path towards regional net-zero.

A must-read for those working on regional power interconnection and renewable energy planning!

🎬 ASEAN Energy Gender Week: Amplifying Voices on Gender in the Energy Transition

Maya Muchlis, Executive Director of Women in Mining and Energy (WiME) Indonesia, shared why platforms like the ASEAN Energy Gender Week matter.

For Maya, it’s more than a meeting space, it’s a platform to speak up louder for those often overlooked, including women and persons with disabilities affected by changes in the energy sector.

🎬 ASEAN Energy Gender Week: Voices for Disability Inclusion in the Energy Sector

Wong Yoon Loong, Executive Director of the National Council for the Blind Malaysia (NCBM), shared his reflections on participating in the ASEAN Energy Gender Week.

He expressed appreciation for being part of the event for the first time, noting how meaningful it was to have persons with disabilities included and given the chance to be heard in conversations about the energy sector.

Arthur Letim from the ASEAN Disability Forum shared his views on the importance of the ASEAN Energy Gender Week as a vital platform for advancing disability and gender inclusion. He reminded us that meaningful participation goes beyond consultation, as it is about ensuring that persons with disabilities, particularly women with disabilities, have a voice in shaping the agenda.

Applying the No One Left Behind principle in energy employment is not just a goal. It is a responsibility.
