A big thank you to George Forde from Mayo County Fire Service for visiting our preschool yesterday.

The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the fire jeep and learning all about fire safety. George took the time to speak with the children, answer their questions, and share important fire safety messages in a fun and engaging way.

It was a highly beneficial experience for everyone, and we greatly appreciate George taking the time to visit us. Thank you for helping our children learn such valuable life skills!

🚒🔥 A Fantastic Visit to the Fire Station! 🔥🚒

Some classes from Claremorris National School had an amazing time visiting Claremorris Fire Station this week!

Ms Mellett’s Junior Infants, along with Ms McGreal’s and Ms Lynn’s Infant classes, enjoyed a very special day filled with excitement, learning and fun.

The children were given a tour of the station, got to explore the fire engine, and best of all, had the chance to spray the fire hose! 💦🚒

It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about the important work firefighters do to keep our communities safe.

The pupils were welcomed by Sub Station Officer Jarlath Jennings, Firefighters Piotr Romaniewicz, Sean Lenehan and Karen Judge.

The smiles on the children’s faces said it all – a memorable day that won’t be forgotten anytime soon!

On Monday, Firefighters from Achill Island fire station had a fantastic visit to Coláiste Pobail Acla Summer Camp, where students took part in an engaging and educational fire safety session. They learned about fire safety in their school, how to identify potential hazards, the importance of the Emergency Action Notice and evacuation plan, and the correct procedures for raising the alarm and evacuating the building safely.

The students also had the opportunity to see and use some firefighting equipment and gained an insight into careers within the fire service.

To finish off the session, some students took part in a fun and competitive fire kit race, putting their speed and teamwork to the test as they raced to get dressed in firefighting gear.

A great day of learning, participation, and fun for everyone involved! 🧑🏻‍🚒🔥🚒🧯🏝️

Firefighters from Ballyhaunis fire station were present at the Ballyhaunis Summer Festival yesterday.

It was a fun day for everyone with a vibrant mix of family fun and community spirit.

The firefighters were on hand throughout the day providing important fire safety advice for homeowners, particularly the elderly and more vulnerable members of our communities, while also providing a demonstration of what happens when we are called to attend Road Traffic Collision’s 💥

Events like these are a great reminder of the strength of community, bringing people of all ages together to celebrate culture, creativity, heritage and the spirit of inclusion. It was wonderful to see support from all the local organisations, businesses, volunteers, and families who helped make the day a great success.

Firefighters from across County Mayo recently completed a QQI Road Transportation course, gaining hands-on experience in the latest extrication techniques, rescue tools, and emerging vehicle technologies.

Throughout a challenging but highly rewarding week of practical training and simulated exercises, crews developed the skills needed to safely and effectively rescue people trapped in vehicles following Road Traffic Collisions.

A great achievement for all involved and an important investment in keeping our communities safe. 🚒

📣🟠"Amber Thursday"

Leading up to the June Bank Holiday Weekend, "Amber Thursday" is a joint initiative to promote Fire, Road and Water Safety awareness to highlight the various risks associated with fire, road and water-based activities over the summer season.

Therefore, the public are being urged to be aware of the risks and dangers every time they use a road, go into water and interact with anything flammable and to take a minute to ensure what they are doing is safe and responsible.
