Wexford Library Our Mission Statement: To promote change and social justice through access to knowledge and information. Membership of the library is free. So why not join?

We are a public library service run by Wexford County Council. Just call in to us with proof of address (letter, bill, driving licence etc.) and photographic ID, fill out a simple registration form. When you become a member of Wexford Library, you can:

Borrow up to 12 items and this includes books, DVDs, CDs for 3 weeks at a time, from any of our public library branches in County Wexford. Free in

ternet access. Book a session to practice the Driver theory test. Learn a new language online from the comfort of your own home. Be in the know about free events happening in your library
And much, much more!

There's still time to enter our big prize draws, so keep reading and make sure to get your entries in. Saturday, 5th September is the final day to enter!

A huge well done to everyone who has been reading throughout the summer and visiting us here at the library. It's been a record-breaking year for registrations, and we're thrilled to see so many of you borrowing brilliant books and taking part in our Summer Stars events.

Thank you for making this summer such an awesome adventure. We love seeing our young readers discovering new books and enjoying all the activities on offer.

As part of our Family Literacy Programme, we will celebrate International Romanian Language Day with a bilingual story time and craft!
Staff member Ornella will be reading each chapter in English and in Romanian, so you don`t need to be fluent in Romanian to participate.
Introducing your little ones to bilingual story times is beneficial to so many areas of development such as cognitive skills, language development, cultural awareness, emotional development, identity and belonging, memory and learning and so much more.
This is a free event. Suitable for children aged 4-6 years.

Wexford Library Service launched the Tiny Little Library at Wexford General Hospital SCBU to Support Families of Premature Babies.

Friday 31st July 2026 saw the launch of Tiny Little Library at the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in Wexford General Hospital (WGH), bringing the power of stories, language and connection to some of the county's smallest and most vulnerable babies.

Tiny Little Library is an innovative partnership between Wexford Library Service and the neonatal team in SCBU at Wexford General Hospital. The initiative provides a collection of carefully selected books that parents can read aloud to their premature and hospitalised babies, helping families bond during what can be a challenging and emotional time.

Research has shown that reading and talking to babies in neonatal care can have a significant impact on their development. It can support early brain and language development while strengthening the bond between parent and baby.

The Tiny Little Library collection in Wexford SCBU will give families access to specially chosen books designed to be read aloud, creating opportunities for comfort, connection and communication from the earliest days of life. The initiative also links families with their local public library, ensuring continued access to books, resources and support after their baby returns home.

As part of our Heritage week celebrations, Wexford Library was delighted to host, The Cave inside the Rath inside the Garden – ‘Unpacking’ a surprising monument in Co. Wexford, with Archaeologist Dr Ronan O'Flaherty.

A huge thank you to Ronan for delivering such a fascinating and insightful presentation on the remarkable site at Ballytrent and the exciting new discoveries surrounding it.

Thank you also to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. A special word of thanks to the Ryan family of Ballytrent House for joining us and adding a unique connection to the story of this intriguing site.

Thank you all for making it such an enjoyable and memorable evening in Wexford Library.
