Wexford Library Service is proud to announce they have achieved Libraries of Sanctuary recognition, as awarded by Places of Sanctuary Ireland.

A Library of Sanctuary is a Library that is committed to creating a culture of welcome and inclusion, especially for people seeking sanctuary and all newcomers to the area.
Wexford Library service was awarded this recognition at an event held in Gorey Library on Wednesday 16 September.
This event was attended by Cathaoirleach Lisa McDonald as well as representatives from the library service, community groups and schools.

The recognition is based on evidence of the culture of welcome and inclusion the service has created in branches and services across the county, by fostering partnerships with community groups, reaching out to minority populations and providing additional support to students of all backgrounds and needs in local schools.

Wexford Library service joins other libraries in Ireland who have made this commitment, including Portlaoise and Balbriggan Library and also the Louth, Westmeath and Wicklow library services.
