*DDC Poonch Conducts Extensive Inspection of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) Arrangements*

_Inspects Eidgah, Jama Masjid, Poonch Fort and Main Bazaar; Directs Officers to Ensure Adequate Facilities and Smooth Conduct of Religious Procession_ .

*POONCH, AUGUST 23* : District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch, Sh. Ashok Kumar Sharma, today conducted an extensive visit to various locations in Poonch town to review arrangements for the observance of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and the associated religious procession.
The DDC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Muhammad Sayeed; AD FCS & CA, Khalil Ahmed Banday, besides officers from Jal Shakti and other concerned departments.
During the visit, the DDC inspected the Poonch Eidgah and reviewed the arrangements being put in place for devotees and participants attending the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi programme. He took stock of the availability of essential facilities and directed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements for the convenience, safety and security of the public.

The DDC also visited the Jama Masjid, Poonch, and reviewed the arrangements for the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) procession. Hazrat Maulana M***i Farooq Hussain Misbahi and Hazrat Maulana Hafiz Abdul Majeed Madani were also present on the occasion. The DDC took detailed stock of crowd management, traffic regulation, sanitation, drinking water supply, security arrangements and other essential facilities along the proposed procession route.
The concerned officers were directed to maintain close coordination and ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance so that the religious programme and procession are conducted peacefully, smoothly and in an orderly manner.

Later, the DDC visited the historic Poonch Fort (Qila) and Main Bazaar, where he reviewed the overall situation and arrangements in the town in view of the upcoming religious occasion. He also emphasized maintaining cleanliness, ensuring smooth traffic movement and keeping all public facilities functional.
The DDC stressed that the district administration is committed to providing all necessary facilities to the public and ensuring a peaceful, safe and well-managed observance of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) in Poonch.

*DC Poonch chairs meeting of Collectors to finalise land compensation rates for GREF's Khanetar Coy OP Base*

*POONCH, AUGUST 22:* Deputy Commissioner/District Collector Ashok Kumar Sharma today convened a meeting of all the Collectors concerned of District Poonch to deliberate upon and finalise the rates for land compensation in connection with the construction of the Khanetar Coy OP Base by the GREF.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need to adopt a fair, transparent and uniform approach while assessing the compensation rates, keeping in view the statutory provisions and applicable guidelines. He also directed the Collector concerned to examine the relevant revenue records, prevailing market rates and other applicable parameters to ensure that the compensation is determined strictly in accordance with law.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon all the officers concerned to maintain close coordination and ensure that the interests of the affected landowners are duly protected while facilitating the timely ex*****on of the project.

*5th batch of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji yatra pilgrims receives grand welcome at Poonch*

*POONCH, AUGUST 21* : The 5th batch of the Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra, comprising around 4,000 devotees, reached the College Ground Poonch today, where the district administration, police, Yatra Management Committee and locals accorded the pilgrims a grand and warm welcome.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik and Additional SP Ajay Sharma, along with other officers and officials from the civil administration and police department, members of the Yatra Management Committee, civil society representatives and enthusiastic locals welcomed the pilgrims.

The college ground witnessed a festive atmosphere as the devotees were greeted with warmth and traditional hospitality. A large number of locals gathered at the venue to welcome the pilgrims and showcase Poonch's rich tradition of communal harmony, hospitality and respect for visiting devotees.

Different societies and organisations set up various food stalls and refreshment arrangements to facilitate the pilgrims and provide them with refreshments during their stay.

The district administration and all stakeholders reiterated their commitment to ensuring smooth, safe and comfortable arrangements for the pilgrims throughout the Yatra.

The Yatra will culminate with the Chhari Mubarak Yatra from Poonch to Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Shrine at Mandi, where devotees will pay obeisance.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch chairs meeting of Advisory Committee on Safe Food and Healthy Diet

POONCH, AUGUST 20: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee on Safe Food and Healthy Diet at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex, Poonch, to review measures for ensuring food safety, quality and hygiene across the district.

Among those present were the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik; General Manager, District Industries Centre, Naheem Un Nissa Bhatti; Chief Education Officer; Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Khalil Ahmed Banday; Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Neeraj Sharma; District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Mohd Qasim; Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Tariq Mehmood; and other officers concerned.

The meeting held detailed discussions on food safety, hygiene standards, quality control and the availability of safe, healthy food in hotels, restaurants, eateries and other food establishments across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic and quality food is a collective responsibility, and directed all departments concerned to maintain strict vigilance over food-related establishments. He stressed the need for regular inspections and effective enforcement of prescribed food safety standards to safeguard public health.

The DC directed the officers concerned to ensure that unsafe, stale, sub-standard or improperly stored frozen food is not supplied or served in hotels, restaurants and other eating establishments. He instructed the Food Safety Department and other agencies concerned to conduct regular inspections, particularly of hotels, restaurants, dhabas, bakeries, food outlets and other establishments dealing in food items.

He further directed the officers to check the quality, storage conditions, expiry dates, labelling and hygiene standards of food products and to take action against violations as per the prescribed rules. He also asked the officers to ensure that food items are stored under proper conditions and that cold-chain requirements are followed strictly wherever applicable.

The Deputy Commissioner called for greater awareness among food business operators regarding safe food handling, personal hygiene, cleanliness of kitchens and proper disposal of waste. He directed the departments concerned to undertake awareness activities so that consumers too are made aware of their rights and the importance of consuming safe, nutritious food.

The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for close coordination among the Health, Food Safety, Police, Agriculture, Education and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs departments for effective implementation of food safety measures. He directed the officers to submit regular inspection reports and ensure prompt action wherever deficiencies or violations are noticed.

He underscored that no compromise should be made with public health, and directed the authorities concerned to remain proactive and vigilant, particularly in view of the increasing movement of tourists, pilgrims and visitors in the district.

The meeting concluded with the Deputy Commissioner reiterating the need for strict compliance with food safety norms and coordinated efforts to ensure that the people of Poonch have access to safe, hygienic, nutritious and quality food.

DLIC Poonch approves 261 Mission YUVA cases as Deputy Commissioner stresses timely processing

POONCH, AUGUST 20: A meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC), Poonch, was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma.

Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik; General Manager, District Industries Centre, Naheem Un Nissa Bhatti; and other committee members.

The Committee reviewed the progress and implementation of Mission YUVA in the district. After detailed scrutiny and deliberation, it approved 261 cases under Mission YUVA for further processing as per the prescribed guidelines.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the overall progress of the scheme, including applications, approvals, bank sanctions and disbursements. He stressed the need for timely disposal of pending cases and stronger coordination with banks and the departments concerned. He further emphasized that the maximum benefits of the scheme should reach eligible youth.

The DC directed all officers and stakeholders concerned to expedite the processing of the remaining cases. He called for effective implementation of Mission YUVA in the district to promote entrepreneurship and generate sustainable employment for the youth of Poonch.

*DC reviews traffic management, transport-related issues at RTA meeting*

*POONCH, AUGUST 19:* Deputy Commissioner Poonch and Chairman Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of the Authority here in his office chamber.

The DC reviewed the issues pertaining to traffic management, regulation of passenger and commercial transport and enforcement of road safety measures across the district.

The meeting was attended by officers from the Police and Motor Vehicle Departments. Among those present were Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Nawaz Sharief, Dy SP DAR, Shashi Kant, Dy. SP Traffic, Tehsildar Headquarters and other concerned officials.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure an efficient, safe and well-regulated transport system in the district. He directed the concerned officers to maintain strict enforcement of traffic rules and ensure that vehicles operating on roads comply with all prescribed statutory requirements. He called for regular inspections and effective monitoring of passenger and commercial vehicles so that commuters are provided safe and reliable transportation facilities.

While reviewing traffic-related issues, the DC stressed the importance of preventing violations of traffic norms and ensuring disciplined movement of vehicles on busy roads and market areas. He directed the concerned enforcement agencies to take appropriate action against violations in accordance with the rules and regulations in force.

The DC further directed the concerned officers to identify traffic bottlenecks and other issues affecting smooth vehicular movement and take timely corrective measures. He called for regular field inspections and close monitoring of traffic arrangements, particularly at locations experiencing congestion and increased vehicular movement.

The Motor Vehicle Department and Traffic Police were asked to work in close coordination and ensure that transport operators strictly adhere to the prescribed rules and regulations. The concerned officers were directed to maintain regular coordination with the district administration and promptly bring important transport and traffic-related issues to its notice for timely resolution.

The meeting concluded with directions to the concerned departments to maintain close coordination, intensify enforcement wherever required and undertake necessary measures for improving traffic management and road safety across the district.

*DDC Poonch reviews implementation of District Capex Budget, SDRF 2026-27*

*POONCH, AUGUST 19* : District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today reviewed the progress and implementation of works under the District Capex Budget and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for the financial year 2026-27 here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex.

The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer of Hydraulic Circle, Vipan Kumar, Assistant Commissioners Panchayat, Rakesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Development Shakeel Ahmed Malik, Chief Executive Officers of Municipal bodies, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B), Jal Shakti, JPDC, Ground Water Division, REW and other concerned departments, besides accounts officials.

At the outset, the DDC reviewed the status of Administrative Approval and Allotment (AAA), tendering and allotment of proposed works under the District Capex Budget 2026-27. The concerned officers informed the meeting about the progress achieved in their respective departments and the status of ongoing works.

The meeting also took a detailed review of the physical and financial progress of temporary and permanent works being undertaken under SDRF 2026-27. The DDC sought updated information regarding the status of sanctioned works, expenditure incurred, works completed and those presently under ex*****on.

The DDC directed the departments to closely monitor the progress and ensure that the sanctioned works are taken up and completed within the stipulated timelines.

The officers were further directed to ensure that bottlenecks, if any, affecting the progress of works are identified and resolved promptly in coordination with the concerned authorities. .

*DC Poonch reviews arrangements for Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi*

*POONCH, AUGUST 17:* Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office to review and finalize arrangements for the Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

The meeting was attended by SSP Shafket Hussain Bhat; Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik; senior officers of the district administration and police department, along with religious scholars, M***is and prominent citizens of the district.

Threadbare discussions were held on measures to be taken for the smooth and peaceful observance of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi, including security arrangements, traffic management, sanitation, uninterrupted power and water supply, medical facilities, fire and emergency services, food safety, cleanliness around religious places and other necessary civic amenities.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure adequate arrangements well in advance and maintain close coordination with religious representatives and the local community. He stressed that all necessary facilities shall be put in place so that devotees and the general public can participate in the religious programmes peacefully and without inconvenience.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, brotherhood, communal harmony and mutual respect during the festival. He said that Poonch has a long-standing tradition of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence and urged people of all communities and faiths to uphold this cherished tradition.

The DC called upon religious leaders and prominent citizens to play an active role in promoting harmony, peace and prosperity in society. He said that the festival should be celebrated in a spirit of unity, brotherhood and mutual respect, strengthening the bonds of communal harmony among people.

*Poonch: Trishul Yatra taken out from Nav Grah Mandir*

*POONCH, AUGUST 16:* A spiritually vibrant Trishul Yatra was taken out today from Nav Grah Mandir-Ajote, with thousands of devotees, cultural performers and dignitaries participating in the religious procession, showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted devotion.

Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma performed the sacred puja at Nav Grah Mandir and participated in the Trishul Yatra. He was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Muhammad Sayeed, Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Sharma and officers from Army, who also participated in the yatra and performed the sacred Trishul Pujan.

The yatra commenced from Nav Grah Mandir with devotees offering prayers and seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva.

Amid chanting of hymns, devotional songs and traditional rituals, the procession passed through culturally significant areas including Ajote, Purani Poonch, Kha Khanawan, Jernally Mohalla and Qila Bazar.

Flower-adorned tridents and religious flags carried by devotees added to the spiritual fervour, while devotional chants and traditional music resonated through the streets of Poonch.

The Trishul Yatra culminated at the College Ground, designated as the base camp for the Shri Budha Amarnath Ji Yatra. The venue witnessed an enthusiastic gathering of devotees and participants, turning the occasion into a vibrant celebration of faith, devotion and communal harmony.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the overall arrangements at the base camp for the visiting yatris. He inspected the stage, food stalls, lighting, water supply and other basic facilities made available for comfortable, safe and hassle-free stay of the pilgrims.
