GHANA PARTICIPATES IN THE SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL MATH OLYMPIAD CHALLENGE (SIMOC) 2026 AND THE BRANDS FOR GOOD AWARDS 2026
The Ghana Mission in Tokyo represented Ghana at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2026 and the Brands for Good Awards 2026, held in Singapore from 21st to 22nd July 2026.
Mr. Christopher E.K. Gaba, Minister-Counsellor, represented the Mission and joined a Ghanaian delegation of 30 participants, comprising 20 students and 10 accompanying adults, drawn from Al-Rayan International School, Ghana Christian International High School, Vine Christian School, SOS-Hermann Gmeiner College, Duker Academy and Prempeh College.
SIMOC 2026 brought together more than 2,200 students from 40 countries, with Ghana and Nigeria representing the African continent. Ghana's delegation was its largest ever to the competition, reflecting the country's growing participation and commitment to excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics ( STEM) education.
During the awards ceremony, Mr. Gaba conveyed greetings from the Ghana Mission, congratulated the Ghanaian students on their achievements, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence while serving as ambassadors of Ghana.
A notable highlight of the visit was the recognition of Mr. John Benjamin Eshun, Principal of Ghana Christian International High School, who received an EDU FOR GOOD Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to education and educational leadership. The Mission congratulated Mr. Eshun on this remarkable international achievement.
On the margins of the events, the Mission also held discussions with officials of the Singapore International Mastery Contests Centre (SIMCC) and other stakeholders on opportunities to strengthen future collaboration in education, student leadership and international academic exchanges.
