The women of the Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA), led by our Director for Administration, joined the global observance of Menstrual Hygiene Day with an awareness session focused on menstrual health, dignity, and support for women.

During the celebration, women encouraged their male colleagues to be more understanding, respectful, and supportive of women experiencing menstruation, while also promoting open conversations around menstrual health.

Kudos to the men of LSEZA who joined their workmates in support of the day.

The event served as a reminder that menstruation is a natural part of life and that everyone has a role to play in creating a supportive workplace.

It was fun, engaging, and educative.

We've successfully completed day two of our Media Training, bringing together talk-show hosts and managing editors from across Liberia for deeper engagement on the Authority’s mandate, investment opportunities, and the role of Special Economic Zones in driving national economic growth.

The engagement forms part of LSEZA’s ongoing efforts to deepen media understanding and strengthen partnerships with media institutions through informed, accurate, and development-focused reporting.

Delivering special remarks, Director of Administration, Hatti Wureh Hunder, emphasized the critical role of the media in shaping public understanding, promoting transparency, and advancing national development priorities.

Madam Hunder further encouraged journalists, talk show hosts, and editors to utilize the knowledge gained from the training to drive informed national conversations around economic growth, investment opportunities, job creation, and the long-term impact of Special Economic Zones on Liberia’s development agenda.

Today’s session concludes a successful two-day training for media professionals, including reporters, talk show hosts, editors, and online media practitioners.

The training marks the first-ever exclusive media engagement since the establishment of the Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority in 2017.

(Monrovia, Liberia May 27, 2026) The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) has successfully concluded the first day of its first-ever exclusive media training for reporters and journalists.

The landmark engagement, organized by the Communications Department of LSEZA, brought together over 15 journalists from various media institutions , including broadcast, print, and online to deepen their understanding of the Authority’s mandate, functions, objectives, and the role of Special Economic Zones in driving national economic growth and investment.

Speaking during the opening session, LSEZA Executive Chairman, Prince Wreh, emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the Authority and the media, noting that informed and responsible reporting is essential to promoting investment opportunities and national development.

Also speaking at the event, President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), Julius Kanubah, commended LSEZA for organizing what he described as a strategic and laudable initiative aimed at educating media professionals about the work and national importance of the Authority.

Mr. Kanubah encouraged journalists to take full advantage of the training and continue reporting in ways that promote economic development, investment awareness, and national progress.

“As journalists, we must also understand our responsibility in contributing to national development through informed and development-focused reporting,” he stated.

Delivering welcome remarks earlier, LSEZA Communications Manager, Daniel Ankrah, described the initiative as a pivotal moment for the institution’s communication and public engagement efforts.

“As the first Communications Manager of LSEZA, this initiative is deeply pivotal to me because communication is not only about visibility it is about trust, public understanding, transparency, and building strategic relationships with the media as partners in national development,” he noted.

Day Two of the engagement will focus on bringing together talk show hosts and managing editors for deeper discussions on media collaboration, strategic communication, and national economic development reporting.

The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority remains committed to fostering stronger partnerships with the media as part of its mandate to attract investment, create jobs, and promote sustainable economic growth in Liberia.

LSEZA CONVENES HIGH LEVEL DISCUSSION WITH LRA, NPA, MOD ON INVESTMENT INCENTIVES AND TARIFF EXEMPTION

(May 26, 2026) The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) has convened a high-level stakeholders’ discussion focused on two critical issues impacting the development of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Liberia, investment incentives and tariff exemptions.

The discussion brought together key institutions and stakeholders, including the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), the National Port Authority (NPA), the Ministry of National Defense, and private security actors, all of whom play essential roles in the successful implementation and operation of SEZs in Liberia.

Speaking during the meeting, LSEZA Executive Chairman, Prince Wreh, described the working session as a critical step toward strengthening Liberia’s tax incentive regime, enhancing security coordination within the economic zones, and ensuring that all participating institutions clearly understand and execute their respective mandates as defined by law.

Also speaking during the meeting, Customs Commissioner Saa Samoi reaffirmed the LRA’s commitment to collaborating with LSEZA to ensure that customs functions, including security controls and trade facilitation measures, are effectively implemented and maintained.

It can be recalled that the LRA and LSEZA previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at promoting and defining trade facilitation mechanisms to strengthen monitoring and control across local and international trade corridors.

Meanwhile the Deputy Director for Port operations at NPA, James Bernard, pledged the NPA’s willingness to work closely with LSEZA, particularly in facilitating security access and operational coordination for staff and operators within the economic zones.

He further proposed the signing of a formal MOU between the NPA and LSEZA to deepen institutional collaboration, similar to the existing agreement between LSEZA and the LRA.

Representing the Ministry of National Defense, Assistant Public Affairs Minister Oscar Mulbah expressed the Armed Forces of Liberia’s support and commitment to working alongside LSEZA in advancing its mandate within the country’s free zone framework.

At the close of the meeting, all parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering stronger inter-agency collaboration, improving security coordination through established procedures, and supporting LSEZA’s mandate to attract investment, designate and license economic zones, and promote sustainable economic development in Liberia.
