Update!

Under the leadership of His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., the people of Liberia continue to experience meaningful and transformative development.

Tomorrow, July 28, 2026, President Boakai, accompanied by senior government officials and development partners from the Arab Coordination Group (Arab Lenders), will dedicate the Gbarnga-Salayea (81km) Road Corridor and do the ground breaking of the Salayea-Konia (50km) and Zorzor-Yeala (6km) Road Project, marking another major milestone in the Government's ARREST agenda.

The program will be held at the Border point of B**g and Lofa Counties, at the rest station by the bridge.

Through the efforts of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, under the leadership of Honorable Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, the Government of Liberia has successfully mobilized US$72.8 million in financing from the OPEC Fund, BADEA, and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to upgrade the 56-kilometer road corridor comprising the 50-kilometer Salayea–Konia Road and the 6-kilometer Zorzor–Yeala Road.

The remaining 64-kilometer Konia–Voinjama Road will be financed by the Saudi Fund for Development, further strengthening road connectivity across Lofa County.

Road construction for these new corridors is expected to commence during the dry season, creating hundreds of short- and long-term employment opportunities while stimulating economic growth throughout the region.

Beyond road infrastructure, the Government has also secured US$49.6 million from the Saudi Fund for Development for the construction of the Botota–Gbarnga–Zorzor Transmission Line and Substation Project, which will significantly improve electricity access and support economic growth in the region.

In addition, US$700,000 has been mobilized from BADEA to finance the renovation, rehabilitation, and equipping of the Salayea Clinic and the Konia Health Center, enhancing the delivery of quality healthcare services to communities along the road corridor.

These investments demonstrate the Government's unwavering commitment to improving infrastructure, expanding access to essential services, and fostering inclusive and sustainable development for the people of Lofa County and Liberia as a whole.
