⚡ THUNDERSTRIKE OPERATION – JULY 2026: 632 Wanted Persons Arrested in 4 Days

Building on the success of the June operation, the Mauritius Police Force achieved an even stronger outcome in July's Thunderstrike Operation, with 632 wanted persons arrested during four days of coordinated actions across the island.

This operation brought together all major units of the Mauritius Police Force, demonstrating unity, professionalism and operational readiness in the fight against crime.

🛑 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026

"Trapped Behind the Scam" was the global theme for this year's United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

On 29 July 2026, the Mauritius Police Force, through its Combatting of Trafficking in Persons Unit, actively participated in an awareness campaign held at Victoria Urban Terminal, alongside partner agencies and stakeholders.

The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about the realities of human trafficking, educate the community on how to recognise its warning signs, and encourage everyone to play a role in preventing this serious crime.

🚔 ADSU: Plus de Rs 55 MILLIONS de drogues saisies en une seule journée

Sous la supervision directe du Commissaire de Police, les équipes de l'ADSU ont intensifié leurs opérations le 29 juillet 2026, réalisant cinq importantes saisies qui représentent à elles seules une valeur estimée de plus de Rs 55 millions.

Parmi les drogues saisies figurent de l'Héroïne, du Cocaïne, du Crystal M**h, des drogues synthétiques et du Cannabis. Ces opérations ont conduit, pour l'heure, à cinq arrestations pour trafic de drogue.

La lutte contre la drogue, premier pilier du Plan stratégique 2026-2028 de la Mauritius Police Force, demeure une priorité absolue. Nos équipes poursuivent sans relâche leurs actions pour démanteler les réseaux criminels, interpeller les trafiquants et protéger la population. 🇲🇺

⚓ National Coast Guard Celebrates 39th Anniversary

The National Coast Guard (NCG) celebrated its 39th Anniversary yesterday, 24 July 2026, with a Ceremonial Parade held at the Coast Guard Training School, Le Chaland, in presence of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. R. Sooroojebally, PMSM.

In his address, the Commissioner of Police commended the NCG for its professionalism and operational achievements, while reaffirming the importance of innovation, continuous training and strong maritime partnerships in addressing evolving maritime security challenges.

Le 9 juillet 2026, la police mauricienne a rendu hommage aux sept policiers disparus en mer ce même jour en 1964, lors d'une cérémonie commémorative organisée à la plage publique de Poste Lafayette.

La cérémonie, marquée par une parade de la Special Mobile Force et un dépôt de gerbes au mémorial, s'est déroulée en présence du Commissaire de Police ainsi que des familles des policiers disparus.

✋🏻 Oath Taking Ceremony for 368 New Constables in the Mauritius Police Force 🇲🇺

Today, 18 July 2026, a significant milestone was reached at the Philip Oh San Auditorium in Vacoas for a total of 116 Temporary Woman Police Constables (TWPCs) and 252 Temporary Police Constables (TPCs) - who entered the service on 3 November 2025. They officially took their solemn oath during a dedicated Oath Taking Ceremony.

The ceremony was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. R. Soorojebally, PMSM. In his address, the Commissioner of Police reminded the new cohort that the oath is not a mere formality, but a profound commitment to selflessly protect the country, uphold the law with absolute fairness, and maintain allegiance to the values of the Mauritius Police Force.

📌 A Legacy of Resilience: The Commissioner highlighted that the Mauritius Police Force is one of the oldest police organisations in the world, spanning over 257 years. He reminded the trainees that the force has successfully evolved through centuries due to the quality, dedication, and selflessness of its officers.

📌 The Power and Responsibility of the Oath: Officers were reminded that the oath vests them with legal police powers to prevent and detect offences, preserve peace, and serve without fear or favour, affection or ill-will.

📌 Integrity, Objectivity, and Public Trust: The Commissioner strictly cautioned against deviance, corruption, or overzealous conduct. He emphasized that an officer's decisions must never be governed by personal relationships or grudges. He urged them to act strictly within legal parameters, as they will be held accountable for both their actions and inactions.

📌 A Call for Empathy and Excellence: The new constables were encouraged to serve the community with deep empathy—particularly the most vulnerable groups—and to continuously strive for knowledge and self-improvement.

As these 368 newly sworn-in officers step forward to officially begin their journey, the Mauritius Police Force wishes them a long, safe, and fruitful career in service to our nation.
