🌍 Gendered Voices | Women leaders advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Mauritius

Kim Yip Tong is a multidisciplinary artist🎨 and filmmaker whose work bridges science, storytelling, and emotion to inspire greater awareness of our relationship with the natural world. Her award‑winning animated film 🎬 ‘Pie dan Lo’, created in response to the Wakashio oil spill, exemplifies how art can drive behavioural change, foster dialogue, and mobilise action for ocean conservation.

A strong advocate for environmental awareness and collective action, she advances SDGs 13 (Climate Action), 14 (Life Below Water) and 4 (Quality Education) — demonstrating the vital role artists play in shaping more sustainable and compassionate societies.

She is featured in the latest UNDP-Mauritius Gendered Voices.

As we mark and this June, we are pleased to share a series of inspiring conversations with the people helping shape a more sustainable future for our islands. From environmental advocates and scientists to conservation leaders, private sector champions, policymakers and youth activists, Island Voices for Nature explores the opportunities, challenges and solutions surrounding nature conservation, climate resilience, sustainable development and ocean governance in Small Island Developing States.

Throughout the series, we will hear from:
