Movie time!

This October, Europe in Cinema is hitting the road with the charming Dutch coming-of-age adventure: 🎬 Ok doei bedankt 🇳🇱 (Okthanksbye).

So, do you want to know the plot?? Jamie is 12, deaf, shy, and definitely not looking to make new friends when she arrives at her new boarding school for the deaf. Enter Imane. She’s 13, bold, spontaneous… and about to turn Jamie’s weekend completely upside down. 😄When Jamie unexpectedly finds herself unable to go home, the two girls hatch a plan and set off on their own for Paris. 🚆🇫🇷

Simple enough? Not quite.
Plans unravel, obstacles appear, and unexpected encounters turn their trip into a real adventure. Along the way, Jamie is pushed far beyond her comfort zone—and an unlikely friendship begins to grow.

🤟 Told from the perspective of two deaf teenagers, Ok doei bedankt is a warm, funny and uplifting story about friendship, courage, communication and discovering just how much you're capable of when life doesn't quite go according to plan.

Join us in welcoming Rinske Hoogwout to our team!

Rinske will be joining both the Economic and Public Diplomacy team for the coming 6 months. She is currently finalizing her master 'economics of sustainability' as well as a bachelor's in law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Rinske holds a bachelor's degree in economics and business economics.

With a special interest in sustainability, Rinske is excited to dive into the bilateral ties between Malaysia and the Netherlands. She wishes to use her law and economic background to explore Malaysian policies and strengthen Dutch - Malaysian partnerships. 🤝

In her free time, Rinske likes to go sailing, play (racket) sports, and explore the city or nature on foot. She also loves trying new (vegetarian) cuisines, go to concerts and travel.

Join us in welcoming our new colleague 🎉

Firoz Ehsan joined the Embassy as second secretary. Before taking up this post, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Asia and Oceania department for three years, and previously spent several years working and studying in China. Drawing on his regional and thematic experience, he hopes to contribute to a deeper understanding of developments in Asia and to further strengthening the partnership between the Netherlands and Malaysia. 🇳🇱 🤝 🇲🇾

In his spare time, Firoz is a sports enthusiast. In addition to taekwondo and fitness, he enjoys experimenting with new sports and is always keen to try something different, whether it’s on the mat, on the court, or outdoors.

Last Saturday, we launched the MY Orange Alumni Network at the Ambassador Jacques Werner's residence, bringing together Malaysian alumni with connections to the Netherlands.

The afternoon was filled with lively conversations, a fun pop quiz testing everyone's knowledge of the Netherlands, and inspiring pitches from alumni showcasing their work and the impact they're making in their respective fields.

A wonderful start to a vibrant community for reconnecting, collaborating, and strengthening the ties between Malaysia and the Netherlands. Looking forward to more gatherings ahead!🌷
