There is no Monday Motivation today. Sharing a piece of my mind and my life experiences to inspire you each new week has become a fond experience I genuinely look forward to.

However, I recently came across a message that got me reflecting:

โ€œPeople know exactly what to do to change their lives. They simply canโ€™t bring themselves to do those things.โ€

You know you have to dream big. You know you have to keep going when things get tough. You know that almost anything is possible when you remain relentless.

We have become so exposed to information that ex*****on has now become the new and most important leverage for anyone who is truly ambitious.

Go back to that draft you abandoned. Revisit those old self-help videos you saved a year ago. Look again at the New Yearโ€™s resolutions you made. A lot can change in your life if you can find the discipline to act on even half of what you already know.

The success you seek is often hidden in the work you keep avoiding.

This week, you don't need another new idea. You need to start working on the old ones you have been neglecting.

Happy New Week!

Senator Allwell Onyesoh.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Works and Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator (Chief) Allwell Heacho Onyesoh, DSSRS, JP, FIBAKM, has called for urgent collaboration among stakeholders towards finding a lasting solution to the challenges affecting the Benin-Asaba Expressway.

Senator Onyesoh made the call on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026, during the Benin-Asaba Expressway Stakeholdersโ€™ Meeting held at the Edo State Government House, Benin City, following an inspection tour of the critical highway.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, CON, members of the National Assemblyโ€™s Committee on Works, contractors, concessionaires, and other key stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Onyesoh acknowledged the contributions of the Governor, the Honourable Minister, his colleagues in the National Assembly, and other stakeholders towards addressing the challenges affecting the road. He described the Benin-Asaba Expressway as a critical national asset whose deplorable condition impacts communities, security, economic activities, and the wellbeing of Nigerians.

โ€œThe Benin-Asaba Expressway affects our communities, our security, and our economy as a whole. The way the road has deteriorated is something that must be urgently addressed,โ€ Senator Onyesoh stated.

The Senate Committee Chairman expressed disappointment with the concessionaires, noting that they had not presented a clear and workable plan capable of addressing the magnitude of the challenges. He urged them to immediately engage with the Honourable Minister of Works and take advantage of the soft landing approach recommended by the Minister to develop a practical and sustainable solution.

โ€œLet the concessionaires work closely with the Minister so that we can find a way forward. This project is too important to be delayed, considering its impact on Nigerians and the economy,โ€ he added.

Senator Onyesoh commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his intervention and commitment towards the success of the project, as well as his continued support for Federal Government projects in Edo State. He reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to ensuring that the Benin-Asaba Expressway receives the necessary attention for a lasting solution.

BENINโ€“ASABA EXPRESSWAY: SENATOR ONYESOH JOINS UMAHI ON INSPECTION TOUR, ASSURES NIGERIANS OF PRESIDENT TINUBUโ€™S COMMITMENT TO LASTING SOLUTION

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Works and Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator (Chief) Allwell Heacho Onyesoh, DSSRS, JP, FIBAKM on Tuesday, joined the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, CON, his colleagues in the National Assembly, the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, and other key stakeholders for an on-the-spot assessment of the Beninโ€“Asaba Expressway.

The inspection was aimed at assessing the condition of the strategic highway, which remains one of Nigeriaโ€™s most important transportation corridors. The Beninโ€“Asaba Expressway connects the South-South, South-West, South-East, and North-Central regions, serving as a major economic route for the movement of people, goods, and services across the country.

Speaking during the inspection, Senator Onyesoh expressed concern over the condition of the road and sympathised with Nigerians who have continued to face difficulties due to the state of the expressway. He acknowledged the hardship experienced by commuters, motorists, businesses, and communities along the corridor.

โ€œI am deeply concerned and disappointed by the condition of this road. I sincerely sympathise with Nigerians who have continued to endure the challenges associated with this important highway. On behalf of the government, I apologise for the inconveniences faced by road users over the years,โ€ Senator Onyesoh stated.

The Senator commended Nigerians for speaking out and demanding urgent attention to the road, describing their concerns as legitimate and justified. He assured them that their voices have been heard by the Federal Government, adding that the Senate remains fully committed to supporting efforts towards providing a lasting solution.

โ€œThe people have every right to demand that this road is fixed. Mr President has heard their cries, and something positive will definitely be done. The Senate stands with them in this demand for a safer and better road,โ€ he added.

Senator Onyesoh reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโ€™s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the delivery of critical infrastructure projects that promote economic growth, regional connectivity, and improved living standards for Nigerians. The inspection further demonstrates the determination of the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to address infrastructure challenges and provide safer, more efficient, and durable road networks across the Nation.

SENATOR ONYESOH COMMENDS PRESIDENT TINUBU, UMAHI ON IBADANโ€“IJEBU ODE ROAD DUALIZATION AFTER 64 YEARS

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Works and lawmaker representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator (Chief) Allwell Heacho Onyesoh, DSSRS, JP, FIBAKM, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for approving the dualization of the Ibadanโ€“Ijebu Ode Road, describing the project as a significant intervention that will improve connectivity, security, and economic activities along the South West corridor.

Senator Onyesoh made the commendation on Monday during the official flag-off of the project at the Open Field of Legacy Estate, along Idi Ayunre, Ibadanโ€“Ijebu Ode Road. The ceremony was performed on behalf of the President by the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun.

In his remarks, Senator Onyesoh acknowledged the President, represented by Governor Abiodun, and recognised the presence of the former Governor of Oyo State and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, and his colleagues in the National Assembly.

Commending the Minister of Works, Senator Onyesoh said, โ€œThe Minister of Works has done very well in the area of infrastructure development across the country. In terms of his performance and commitment, he can only be compared with his colleague, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, CON, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territoryโ€.

Senator Onyesoh recalled the historical significance of the Ibadanโ€“Ijebu Ode Road, which was constructed in 1962 by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo to connect the ancient Ibadan Kingdom with Ijebuland in present-day Ogun State.

He noted that the road remains an important economic and strategic link between Oyo and Ogun States and beyond, serving as a major route for the movement of people and commercial services.

Speaking on the Presidentโ€™s approval of the dualization, Senator Onyesoh said, โ€œPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognised the importance of this road and approved its dualization. When completed, this project will improve security, reduce travel time, and strengthen economic activities along this corridor.โ€

The Senator further assured that the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works would provide the necessary legislative and appropriation support to facilitate the successful delivery of the project.

He said the National Assembly would continue to collaborate with the Executive to ensure that critical infrastructure projects receive the necessary funding, legislative backing, and oversight for timely and effective completion.

Every ambitious person I know has someone they look up to, a mentor, an idol, or someone whose journey inspires them.

Learning from those who have walked the path before us is one of the wisest ways to grow. Their experiences provide valuable lessons and help us avoid mistakes they have already encountered. However, there is a thin line between being inspired by someone and trying to recreate their journey. They had their own challenges, made their own mistakes, and discovered lessons unique to their path.

Be inspired by the great works of others, but pursue your dreams with the understanding that your journey is different. When challenges come, even after applying the strategies that worked for your mentors, remain humble enough to recognize the lessons life is teaching you.

Sometimes, our struggles are prolonged because we are frustrated that we followed every proven formula and still faced difficulties. But your life is different. Your lessons will be as unique as your success, and those experiences will shape the person you are becoming.

This week, find the courage to make your own mistakes, learn from them, and grow into the person you are meant to become.
