✨Learning is a lifelong journey! 👞+🇨🇿 = 🫶🇳🇬👨‍🎓📚

This week, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja 🇨🇿 was honoured to participate in a workshop hosted by the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria as part of the One Child, One Pair project, implemented by the Five Cowries Arts Education Initiative 🎨🖌. With the financial support of the Česká rozvojová agentura - CzechAid/MZV - Subsaharská Afrika trough the Local Transition Project.🤝 The Embassy was represented by Deputy Head of Mission Marie Nwanyanwu and Political and Cultural Officer Ondřej Neuschl. 🫡

🇨🇿🤝🇳🇬 During the workshop, participants explored the life and legacy of Tomáš Baťa Bata👞👠, one of the Czech Republic's most influential entrepreneurs. 🌍 His ideas continue to inspire people far beyond the Czech Republic 🇨🇿, including in Africa and Nigeria, where generations grew up with the Baťa brand. 👞📖 We reflected on how something as simple as a pair of shoes can open the door to education and opportunity. For many Nigerians, Baťa school shoes, including the well-known Cortina model, remain a familiar childhood memory. 💙

💡 The One Child, One Pair project reminds us that even small interventions can have a lasting impact. We were delighted to exchange ideas with Nigerian 🇳🇬 civil servants and discuss the importance of education, creativity and lifelong learning. 🎓 After all, learning does not end when we leave school. It is a journey that continues throughout our lives, helping us grow, adapt and contribute to our communities. 🌱🤝

🇨🇿✈️ A proud chapter in Czech aviation history — and a legacy shared with Nigeria. The L-39 Albatros has trained generations of military pilots, including pilots of the 🇳🇬 Nigerian Air Force for decades.

On 2 September 2026, three L-39C aircraft will make their farewell formation flight across the Czech Republic, marking the end of an era in 🇨🇿 military pilot👨🏽‍✈️ training. 🥲

As the iconic “Albíci” take their final flight, its legacy continues with the new L-39 Skyfox 🛩🦊AERO Vodochody and with the strong ties built through years of cooperation. 🤝🚀

For the 2027/2028 academic year, Nigeria is not among the countries eligible for the Czech Government Scholarship programme. 🇨🇿🎓

We know that many Nigerian students are interested in studying in the Czech Republic, and we understand that this may be disappointing news. Unfortunately, the Czech Government Scholarship is not available to applicants from Nigeria this year. 🇳🇬💙

We appreciate the strong interest of Nigerian students in studying in Czechia. 🇨🇿🎓

🌱🇨🇿🤝🇳🇬 Strengthening Czech-Nigerian Cooperation in Agriculture and Food Security

🤝 From 11 to 15 August 2026, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) hosted a delegation of representatives from Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and Federal Ministry of Livestock Development - FMLD as part of a twinning project focused on climate change adaptation in agriculture and international knowledge exchange. 📚

During their visit, the delegation explored Czech expertise in 🌾 seed systems, 🧬 genetic resource conservation, 🌍 climate-smart agriculture, 🐄 livestock development, and agricultural policy. They visited leading Czech institutions, including CZU 🎓, Ústřední kontrolní a zkušební ústav zemědělský (ÚKZÚZ), the National Genebank, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic (Ministerstvo zemědělství), Carboneg , and the National Agricultural Museum (Národní zemědělské muzeum Praha) 🤯

At CZU’s Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (Fakulta tropického zemědělství ČZU v Praze), discussions covered agroforestry, climate-smart technologies 🌩️📡, agricultural waste management, alternative livestock species, and seed policy🌱. Delegates also visited the Herbarium, the Laboratory of Ethnobotany and Ethnopharmacology, and the CZU Botanical Garden. 🌿🔬

🇨🇿🤝🇳🇬 The visit provided an excellent opportunity to share expertise, strengthen partnerships, and identify innovative solutions for sustainable agricultural and livestock development in both the Czech Republic and Nigeria.

We are pleased to see Czech and Nigerian institutions working together to address future challenges in food security, climate resilience, and sustainable development. 🌍🌱

📚🌍 Yesterday, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja had the pleasure of hosting students from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria as part of their academic research on international relations. 🇨🇿🇳🇬

🤝 During an engaging discussion, we explored the factors that influence conflict and cooperation among states, as well as the role diplomacy and international organisations play in fostering peaceful international relations. 🕊️🌐
