TRANSITION TO ETERNAL GLORY

With a heavy heart and humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing on to eternal glory of my father -in-law , Chief Sunday Okafor ( Whuum Of Enugwu Ukwu Na Umunri)
aged 79 years.

He was the beloved Father of my dear wife, Mrs Ifunanya Uzor Kalu

He passed away peacefully today following a brief illness

He was a bold, courageous, fearless, and selfless man who was committed to the service of God and humanity.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him

The funeral dates will be announced soon

Please remember him and loved ones in prayers at this difficult period.

May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Senator Kalu Receives Accolades From Abia’s Most Respected Traditional Rulers For Transformative Projects

In less than two weeks, two of the most respected and wealthy traditional rulers in Abia State have publicly commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for his outstanding contributions to education and infrastructure development in Abia North.

The latest commendation came from the Chairman of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Eze Linus Mba, who described Senator Kalu’s efforts as unparalleled since the creation of Abia State. Known for his integrity, straightforwardness, and independence, Eze Mba, like his counterpart, speaks the truth without bias or favor.

"Your Excellency, my Senator, no senator has done what you did in Abia North since the creation of Abia State. You have made Abia North people feel the value of good representation in the National Assembly," HRM Eze Linus Mba stated.

The revered traditional ruler highlighted Kalu’s widespread developmental projects, which have significantly impacted lives across the senatorial district. He emphasized the senator’s major interventions in road construction, school renovations, healthcare, scholarships, empowerment programs, and solar streetlights, many of which had been lacking in the region for decades. He particularly noted that Ihechiowa, a community that had suffered neglect for over 25 years, is now experiencing the dividends of democracy under Kalu’s leadership.

Similarly, in an earlier statement, the Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha (JP), also praised Senator Kalu for his dedication to the development of Ohafia. The monarch, who is also widely respected for his honesty and independent stance, commended the senator for constructing a modern classroom block at Evan Primary School, emphasizing how the project has transformed education in the community.

"We cannot thank him enough. His efforts to uplift our community are deeply appreciated," HRH Ezie Ukoha Kalu Ukoha stated, urging Senator Kalu to continue his engagement with the people of Ohafia.

Abia North: My focus right now is not on the politics of 2027 but on the people of Abia North Senatorial District and how to improve their lives because there is hunger in the land. I can’t be talking about politics when my people are hungry.

Though I appreciate all the endorsements from our people at home and abroad, we still have the mandate given to us in 2023.

My priority at the moment is to deliver more dividends of democracy, put smiles on the faces of my people, and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other patriotic Nigerians in tackling the issues affecting the progress of our great nation.

Sen. Kalu Congratulates Sen. Bamidele Opeyemi, 14 Others On Their Confirmation As Life Benchers by Body of Benchers.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Privatization and Commercialization, His Excellency, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has congratulated Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (CON), Leader of the 10th Senate on their ratification as Life Benchers, by the Body of Benchers. A prestigious honor that recognizes their outstanding contributions to the legal profession. "This confirmation is a testament to Senator Bamidele's dedication and expertise in the field of law." Kalu opined

Under the distinguished Chairmanship of Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), Senator Bamidele was confirmed alongside Director General, Nigerian Law School, Prof. Isa Chiroma; Human Rights Lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN).

The prestigious body further confirmed Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage; retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Ejembi Eko and former United Nations Special Rapporteur on Trafficking persons in Africa, Prof. Joy Ngozi Ezeilo (SAN), esteemed eight (8) others as Life Benchers. This recognition is a significant milestone in their illustrious career, which spans over many decades. This brings the number of Body of Benchers to a total of 170 in Nigeria.

Kalu expressing his excitement said; "Senator Bamidele's achievements are a reflection of his commitment to excellence and his passion for public service." He has served as a member of the National Assembly, representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, and has chaired several committees, including the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters in the 9th Senate and currently as the Leader of the Senate.

Reacting to the 2025 Budget of Restoration, Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, at the Senate Plenary appreciated President Tinubu for the increase in the Defence and Security appropriation which will boost Agricultural Production and improving the aesthetics of our Foreign Embassies which has recently made Nigeria attractive and a new destination for investment. However , Sen. Kalu noted that our Consulates and Embassies need revamp. He spoke emphatically on the need to enhance Manufacturing by supporting Bank of Industry and other Developmental Banks and strong efforts in reducing the Exchange Rate.
