UPDATE:- FATAL ACCIDENT ALONG GIREI ROAD CLAIMS 6 LIVES, SUSPECTED VIOLATOR (DRIVER) ARRESTED

The Adamawa State Police Command wishes to update members of the public on the fatal motor accident that occurred along Girei Road, which claimed the lives of 6 persons on the 4th September, 2026.

In a sustained effort to ensure violators of traffic rules along highways are brought to justice, operatives of the Command have arrested one Kabir Idris, 32 years old, a resident of Wuro Jabbe, Yola South LGA.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect’s actions contributed to the unfortunate accident that led to the loss of 6 lives.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, commiserates with the families of the deceased and reiterates the Command’s commitment to enforcing traffic laws and ensuring safety on all highways in the State.

Members of the public are advised to obey traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving.

1. ANAMBRA STATE (4th September, 2026): ARREST OF MURDER / ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS / RECOVERY OF FI***RM

βœ… Intelligence-led operations by Police operatives following the murder of Isaac Nwosu and three others in Awka, Awka South LGA, resulted in the arrest of five suspects.

βœ… One of the suspects, Chukwuma Oputa, confessed to participating in an armed robbery operation during which a victim was shot dead inside a Bet9ja shop and Isaac Nwosu was subsequently killed.

βœ… One pump-action r***e was recovered from the principal suspect, while his statements facilitated the arrest of four other suspected accomplices.

2. DELTA STATE (4th September, 2026): ARREST OF ATTEMPTED MURDER SUSPECTS / RECOVERY OF FI***RMS AND ILLICIT DRUGS

βœ… Following intelligence-led operations over the attempted murder of Ikolomi Ewoma, Police operatives raided a suspected criminal hideout at Nut Junction, Abraka, Ethiope East LGA.

βœ… Eight suspects were successfully arrested.

βœ… Three locally made pistols, alongside quantities of Tramadol and other illicit drugs, were recovered.

3. KATSINA STATE (3rd September, 2026): FOILING OF KIDNAP OPERATION / RESCUE OF FIVE ABDUCTED VICTIMS

βœ… Police tactical teams successfully engaged armed bandits who invaded Kasuwar Mata Junction, Funtua LGA, and abducted several residents.

βœ… The bandits were overpowered and forced to retreat into the surrounding bush.

βœ… Subsequent clearance and cordon operations led to the successful rescue of five abducted victims unharmed.

4. RIVERS STATE (2nd September, 2026): RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM / RECOVERY OF FI***RMS AND AM******ON

βœ… Police operatives successfully engaged armed kidnappers who abducted a female victim from her shop along Alode Farm Road, Eleme LGA.

βœ… The kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled into the bush following the gun duel with Police operatives.

βœ… The victim was rescued unharmed, while two locally made pistols and one round of live am******on were recovered from the abandoned operational tricycle.

5. NASARAWA STATE (3rd September, 2026): ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS / RECOVERY OF FI***RM AND OTHER EXHIBITS

βœ… Police operatives successfully pursued armed robbers who invaded Glory Guest House, Masaka, Karu LGA, to their hideout.

βœ… Eleven suspects, including two minors, were arrested.

βœ… Recovered exhibits included one locally made revolver gun, six cutlasses, knives, eight SIM cards, scissors, counterfeit foreign currencies and other valuables.

6. BORNO STATE (3rd September, 2026): ARREST OF CULPABLE HOMICIDE SUSPECT / RECOVERY OF PUMP-ACTION GUN

βœ… Following the fatal shooting of Ali Gambo in Jere LGA, Police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene and evacuated the victim for medical attention.

βœ… The victim was confirmed dead, while the suspected perpetrator, Babagana Mustapha, was successfully arrested.

βœ… The pump-action fi***rm used in the incident was recovered as an exhibit.

7. NASARAWA STATE (4th August, 2026): RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM

βœ… The victim was evacuated for medical attention, treated and discharged in good condition before being reunited with her family.

βœ… The suspect, Godstime Onyenechara, 31 years, a serving NYSC member attached to the school, was successfully arrested.

βœ… Medical examination at a government hospital confirmed pe*******on, while the suspect was taken into Police custody for investigation.

9. OGUN STATE (3rd September, 2026): ARREST OF CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT SUSPECT

βœ… The suspect, Tafa Toheeb, 20 years, was successfully arrested and confessed to indecently assaulting the victim.

βœ… The suspect, Njoku Elijah, 47 years, was successfully arrested following swift investigative intervention.

βœ… One locally fabricated revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live am******on was recovered from one of the suspects.

βœ… Following intelligence-led operations targeting criminal black spots, Police operatives raided suspected criminal hideouts at Ikot Abasi Idem and Ifa Atai Villages, Uyo LGA.

SUCCESS:-
THREE "SHILLA" BOYS TERRORISING YOLA NORTH & YOLA SOUTH JAILED 4 YEARS EACH WITHOUT OPTION OF FINE

The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another conviction as the Chief Magistrate Court II sitting in Yola, on Friday, 4th September, 2026 convicted and sentenced 3 membersof the notorious "Shilla" gang to *4 years imprisonment each without option of fine.

The convicts are:
1. Nicholas Kalauni
2. Usman Mohammed
3. Abdurrahman Yakubu
All of Yola North LGA, Adamawa State.

The trio were arraigned by Inspector Ahmed Abubakar on behalf of the Commissioner of Police on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, prohibition of illicit drinks and banned substances, and unlawful possession of weapons.

According to the prosecution, the convicts are members of the "Shilla" group responsible for terrorising residents of Yola North and Yola South LGAs.

During arraignment, the First Information Report was read to them and they pleaded guilty to the offences.

In the course of trial, the Divisional Crime Officer, Karewa Division, ASP Sale Yahaya, tendered their confessional statements and the recovered weapons which were admitted as exhibits by the court.

The *Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, commends the Judiciary for the swift dispensation of justice and reiterates the Command's commitment to rid the State of criminal elements.
