There wasn't just one marathon happening in Dunedin over the weekend!

While runners took to one side of the harbour for the Dunedin Marathon, this determined group of Selwyn College Otago students (pictured here with Donna, our Fundraising Manager) braved the conditions and headed from Selwyn College to Port Chalmers as part of the Selwyn Run for a Cause.

Taking on distances of 5km, 10km, and 21km, students raised funds to support the work of Anglican Family Care and the tamariki and whānau we walk alongside every day.

We know this event took a fair amount of perseverance, having been postponed more than once due to the weather, so we're especially grateful to everyone who kept the momentum going and made it happen.

What an incredible example of service, commitment, and community in action.

When you're at PolyFest watching your tamariki and mokopuna dance their hearts out on stage, be sure to stop by the Village and connect with some of the amazing community organisations that help support our whānau across Ōtepoti.

It's a real privilege to be part of PolyFest and celebrate our tamariki, cultures, and communities. The Village is always a vibe, and we're loving being part of it. 💙

When life gets busy, routines can sometimes feel like just another thing on the to-do list.

But for tamariki, familiar routines help create a sense of safety and connection.

A regular bedtime story, eating dinner together when possible, or a quick check-in after school can help children know what to expect and provide reassurance during times of change.

We've learned that routines don't have to be complicated to be meaningful.

It's often the small, everyday moments that help children feel secure, connected, and supported.

You bring your friends, we'll bring the Bingo!

We're working to bring the OCEANS Grief & Loss Programme to South Otago, creating opportunities for tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau to connect with others who understand the challenges that grief and loss can bring.

Supporting whānau through life's journeys takes many forms. From helping babies get the best start in life through Family Start, to walking alongside children and families experiencing grief and loss through OCEANS, we're committed to strengthening connections and helping people thrive.

One way you can support this kaupapa is by joining us at our upcoming OCEANS Bingo Night Fundraiser.

Bring your friends, whānau, workplace, or community group along for a fun evening while helping us bring this much-needed programme closer to home.

Every Bingo book sold helps support the development of OCEANS in South Otago. Books are just $20 each.

As World Breastfeeding Week comes to a close, we'd like to acknowledge the parents, caregivers, peer supporters, health professionals, volunteers, and community organisations who help whānau feel informed, supported, and connected.

Strong beginnings are built through relationships, encouragement, and access to support when it's needed.

At Anglican Family Care, we're proud to walk alongside whānau through our Family Start service and to celebrate the many people and organisations working every day to help tamariki thrive.

Supporting whānau through life's journeys means being there during the early years, through challenges, and at times of change. Together, we help strengthen what works and build strong, connected, and thriving whānau.
