A few weeks ago we had a group of students take part in the Song Fest Competition here in Dunedin. Everyone performed beautifully with two of our students placing in multiple events.
Huge congratulations to our student Song Fest entrants this year.

Horiana Sirguey (Year 11) gained 1st place in the Pop Song category singing “What Was I Made For”, and 1st = for her Scholarship recitals singing “Après Un Rêve” and “From The Start”. Horiana also recieved a Highly Commended in the Vocal Duet Under 16 category singing “For Good” from Wicked with Evelyn Cochrane (Year 11).
Esme Liesbeth-Blaker (Year 13) had success in the following categories:
3rd Place Waiata
2nd Place Musical Theatre Post-1970
2nd Place Duet in Character along with Gemma Pickering (Year 13)
3rd Place Musical Theatre Pre-1970
1st Equal Contemporary Recital (winning the Telfer Aria Trophy)
Special Prize - SONGfest Spirit

Over the past two days, our Senior A netball team took part in the Otago Secondary Schools Netball tournament. With some players balancing multiple commitments, including the Big Sing, the team did an amazing job with some great wins over East Otago, KVC, and Roxburgh, coming 6th place in their grade.

This weekend our resident divers Faith Abbott (Year 10) and Archie Vorgers (Year 13) competed in the South Island Diving Championships here at Moana Pool. Between the two of them, they bought home a selection of medals in all colours 🏅🥈🥉.
They will be competing next at the National Secondary Schools Comp in Christchurch in the holidays where they will be representing Bayfield!

Year 13 students Keisuke Tomita, Lucian Sheehan, Dylan Andrews and Asher Thorn make up the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) group Neo Fragrances.
Along with other Bayfield students, they got to pitch their business ideas on Wednesday as part of the YES competition.

Today the senior dance class were lucky enough to have Louise Pōtiki Bryant come and teach her workshop: Pūheke - Movement of Flow.
Louise is a choreographer who has worked with Atamira Dance Company and is a New Zealand Arts Laureate, and an award-winning multi-media artist. She weaves Māori contemporary dance, video art, animation and film to create immersive multi-layered performances and artworks.
It was a fantastic experience and we are super grateful to have welcomed Louise to Bayfield this morning.
